Nancy’s fingers hesitated for a moment. What did Michael mean by that?

Before he could finish, Michael swiftly kicked him square in the face.
The bald guy didn’t even have time to react as he went flying, landing with a thud on the hardwood floor.
Blood started pooling beneath his head, and he passed out cold.
The other men in the room could only stare, their eyes wide with shock, as they watched Michael, his expression a mask of cold fury. Their knees gave out, and they fell to the floor.
“Mr. Ferguson, please, spare us. We didn’t know she was… with you.”
Michael let out a sharp, humorless laugh. “It’s too late for that. I’m afraid you’ve missed your chance.” His voice was as icy and unforgiving as a winter storm.
Suddenly, a group of law enforcement officers burst in, the lead officer announcing, “You’re all under suspicion of forcing women against their will. You’re coming with us.”
“Ms. Iverson, are you alright? I’m terribly sorry. I never expected something like this to happen here. I assure you, I’ll be tightening up security.” A middle–aged man, around forty, spoke with genuine regret etched on his face.
Ramona looked pale, but instead of responding, she turned to Nancy.
“Lena, I’m so sorry…”
If she hadn’t insisted on coming to this bar,

“It’s not your fault. You couldn’t have known something like this would happen,” Nancy replied earnestly.
But even as she spoke, Michael had already shrugged off his jacket and draped it over Nancy’s shoulders.
Not stopping there, Michael took Nancy’s hand. “Lena, let me take you home.”
Nancy instinctively wanted to refuse, but before she could even voice it, Ramona interjected, “Lena, you go with Mr. Ferguson. I’ll head off with Malcolm.” She shot a steely glance at Malcolm. “Mr. Buchanan, you wouldn’t deny me the pleasure, would you?”
Malcolm, meeting Ramona’s determined gaze, grinned. “Of course not. It’d be my pleasure.”

Ramona nodded, then turned to Nancy, waving casually. “I’m off.”
With that, Ramona turned and left, Malcolm following close behind.
Nancy watched them leave, her concern lingering until they were out of sight.
Michael noticed and smirked, teasing her. “Worried about her? From what I hear, the Iverson family trains their kids to mercenary standards from a young age.”
If it came to a fight, Malcolm would be evenly matched with Ramona.
Nancy turned to him, her voice cautious. “Mr. Ferguson, why are you here?”
Michael blinked innocently. “If I told you I came just to find you, would you believe me?”
“And why would you be looking for me?” Nancy frowned, puzzled at how he found her so accurately.
After all, only she, Ramona, and Judson knew they were here.
Michael shrugged with a grin. “Why else? Do we really need to spell out the whole thing about a man and a
woman?”

Nancy’s eyes widened in realization, quickly recovering. “That’s impossible. Mr. Ferguson, you couldn’t possibly
be interested in me.”
“How can you be so sure? You’re not a mind reader, are you?” Michael raised an eyebrow playfully. “Or do you think you’re not charming enough, or perhaps you think I’m not worthy of pursuing you?”
Nancy was sharp, and if she hadn’t deflected the conversation, Judson might have been exposed.
