Chapter 0721
“Damn it!” Alden roared. “Get the first aid kit! They’re just unconscious… Emma, help me with Serenity and Paul. Use some alcohol to wake them up!”
Alden’s voice was filled with desperation as he tried to process the nightmare unfolding before him.
Emma ran to the bathroom to grab the first aid kit, trembling with fear, while Alden frantically searched the house for the three missing children.
“Damn it! How could I have been so stupid and let my guard down?” Alden shouted, his voice full of frustration as he turned the house upside down.
When it became clear the children were nowhere to be found, Alden wasted no more time and called Maximus. Meanwhile, Emma worked to revive Serenity and Paul. Serenity was the first to regain consciousness, slowly coming to while Emma continued helping Paul.
“Emma… what happened to us?” Serenity asked weakly.
“Honey, Alden got a call from your father. Apparently, they ve found us. And the kids… Serenity, the kids are missing.”
Serenity’s face turned pale. She couldn’t remember much; she had been walking one moment and now had just woken up.
“Uncle, I just got to the house, and the kids are gone!” Alden shouted into the phone, his voice trembling with panic.
“Alden! What happened?” Maximus demanded.
“I don’t know! We just got back, and the kids are gone. Ethan, my son, John, and Maurice–none of them are here! I’m such an idiot! I let my guard down, Uncle. This is all my fault!” Alden’s voice cracked, filled with frustration and guilt.
“Alden, I need you to calm down. The team I sent should be arriving soon. Look for clues, something in the house that might tell us what happened. Don’t move anything–just find evidence. Who was with the kids?”
“Serenity and Paul… My god,” Alden said, his voice faltering as he recalled their unconscious bodies.
“What? What happened to them?”
“Serenity and Paul were lying unconscious on the floor when we got here…”
“What? Alden, listen to me. We need to stay calm. The team will be there shortly. Please, check on Serenity and Paul. Let me talk to my kids!”
“Yes, Uncle. Emma, are they awake yet?”

“Yes, Alden. Serenity is awake, and Paul is starting to come around.”
“I’m putting you on speaker, Uncle.”
“Serenity, sweetie, how are you? And Paul?”
“Maximus… I don’t know what happened. I was just walking, and then I woke up here. Maximus, the kids are gone, and I don’t know what happened…” Serenity’s voice was shaky and confused.
“Dad, please come get us!” Paul said, struggling to stand.
“Paul, hang in there. Help is on the way. Forgive me, son. I should have protected you better. I’m so sorry!”

“No, Uncle, this is my fault. I should never have left them alone!” Alden interjected.
Alden, you had to go with Laura. You couldn’t be in two places at once…”
“Uncle, how long until your men arrive?”
“They should be there soon. I just contacted them–they said they’ll arrive in 15 minutes.”
“I’m going with them, Uncle!”

“Alden, no. Let them do their job. You need to stay with everyone else and look after them.”

“Uncle, they took my son! I don’t know who did this, but I swear they’re going to regret it!” Alden yelled before hanging up abruptly.
“Alden!” Maximus shouted into the dead line, but the call had already ended.
After hanging up, Alden checked on Serenity and Paul one last time before heading out to the beach to make some calls. His emotions were boiling over–rage, guilt, fear–all swirling inside him. But beneath the anger, he knew exactly who was behind this.
With that realization, Alden made a decision. If Frank wanted to play this game, so be it. He wasn’t naive, nor was he weak. It was time to bring someone back into the fold, someone who could turn the tide. If Frank wanted to make this about family, Alden would make it clear: a son for a daughter.
