Chapter 130 Someone Is Targeting Her
Caroline knew she didn’t have the luxury of falling apart or indulging in self–pity.
After finishing her breakfast, she headed straight to the company. The traffic was heavy, but her determination was unwavering.
She had managed to protect her child, but now she needed to secure her job as well.
“What happened? Is something wrong?” Caroline asked. “Just tell me directly.”

Anna explained the issue about skin irritation and redness, and Caroline’s expression immediately turned serious.
This doesn’t make sense.
Every ingredient in the formula had been personally selected and carefully added by her. She was well aware of the effects and potential reactions of each component.
To ensure the product was safe for sensitive skin, she had used smaller amounts of chemical additives and preservatives than regulations allowed.
“I understand. I’ll be at the office soon,” Caroline said, glancing out the bus window. “I’m almost there.”
“Alright.”
When Caroline arrived at the research and development department, Anna was already surrounded by a crowd.
Anna was trying to explain something, but her voice was completely drowned out. The female employees were livid, pointing at Anna and causing a commotion, demanding an explanation.
Caroline pushed her way through the crowd. Just as she was about to speak, someone nearest to her raised a hand and nearly poked her in the face.
If she hadn’t dodged in time, that finger might have jabbed into her eye.
“My skin was fine before! Using ‘Caroz‘ products was me doing you a favor, and now look at this! Do you know how much trouble this has caused me?”
Caroline turned her head and spotted a tall, cold figure standing at the doorway of the research department.
David. He was there.
But he stood idly, showing no intention of stepping in to help. In fact, his eyes carried a mocking glint, along with clear disdain.
He was waiting for Caroline to embarrass herself, to put on a show for him.
And when the moment was right, he would gladly step forward to push her further down, to kick her while she was already struggling.
Caroline ignored him. She raised her voice and said clearly, “Everyone, please calm down. I am the lead formulator for ‘Caroz. If you have any concerns or questions, you can bring them to me.”

No matter what they said, Caroline kept a calm smile on her face, showing neither impatience nor anger. Boris was also present and had considered stepping in to diffuse the situation, but David stopped him.
“You’re just going to stand there and watch her get scolded and bullied?”
David’s thin lips curled into a smirk. “She deserves it.”
Boris was speechless. “Still, her reaction surprised me. She’s so composed.”
He couldn’t help but admire her.
She handled the situation with poise and clarity, keeping her emotions out of it. It was a sign of someone who understood the bigger picture.
David let out a cold laugh.
Of course, she was calm. A woman who could face death so indifferently wouldn’t be rattled by something like this.
Apart from the illegitimate child in her womb and the man who had fathered it, nothing else seemed to affect her anymore.
“Calmness won’t solve the problem,” David said lazily, crossing his arms. “Boris, you went to great lengths to recruit this formulator, and she ended up creating a product that ruins people’s skin. How do you feel about that now?”
Boris rubbed his chin thoughtfully. “It doesn’t make sense. She wouldn’t make such a basic mistake.”
“The evidence is right in front of you.”
“There must be something fishy going on,” Boris replied. “Someone is targeting her.”
David raised an eyebrow, intrigued.
At that moment, Caroline managed to get hold of the nearly empty sample bottle.
