Chapter 132 Public Humiliation
Everyone nearby held their breath, not daring to make a sound.
Caroline must have gone mad–how could she speak to Mr. Ellison like that?

If she had just apologized to him the way she had to the female employees earlier, perhaps David’s anger might have subsided.
But now… she was only adding fuel to the fire.
“I didn’t add alcohol or any alcohol–based ingredients to the lotion,” Caroline said slowly. “Someone must have tampered with it after I distributed the samples, which caused the allergic reactions and skin issues.”
“Oh? Who did it?”
“I’ll find out.”
David’s gaze was filled with contempt. He didn’t need to say a word–his expression made it clear enough.
What could Caroline possibly uncover? How would she even begin to investigate? Does she have the ability or authority to do so?
His look made Caroline uncomfortable, and she turned her head away.
He always carried himself with such arrogance, looking down on others, his confidence bordering on self- importance.
David’s tone was cold. “So you think you bear no responsibility at all?”
“What responsibility does a falsely accused person have?” Caroline replied. “I’m a victim in this too. Their faces were injured, but I…”
Her pride, her reputation, her formula’s integrity had all been hurt.
But most of all, her heart.
Caroline knew David understood perfectly well that she wouldn’t have made such a mistake. He had surely guessed this was a deliberate scheme, yet he chose to kick her while she was down.
After all, they were supposed to be husband and wife–the closest two people could be in the world.
And yet…
They stood on opposing sides, constantly at odds.
“You keep saying you were falsely accused. Then where’s your proof?” David asked. “Do you think you can absolve yourself of all responsibility with just a few empty words?”
“I’ll figure out a way to find the eviden-”
Before Caroline could finish, David slammed the bottle in his hand onto the table,
“Bang!”

Anna tugged at Caroline’s sleeve, signaling her to stop talking. The situation was dire–she should just apologize and get it over with.
Anna wanted to take some of the blame herself, as she shared some responsibility.
But Caroline turned the tables, holding Anna’s hand and gently pushing her behind her.
It was clear to Caroline that David was settling a personal score. She couldn’t let Anna get dragged into this and suffer the humiliation.
“Wrong is wrong. Excuses and justifications don’t matter,” David said icily. “If every employee here were like you, how would the company function?”
Caroline took a deep breath.
It was clear he had no intention of letting her off the hook. He was determined to humiliate her in front of
everyone.
Fine. I’d take it.
As long as it didn’t involve her child, she could endure. She wouldn’t waste energy fighting with David over something so trivial.
This wasn’t the wise thing to do.
Lowering her head, she said, “I’m sorry, Mr. Ellison. This was a mistake in my work, a failure on my part. Please… forgive me.”
David didn’t respond. Apparently, he wasn’t satisfied yet.
Caroline continued, “Mr. Ellison, I apologize for disturbing you. Please give me another chance–I’ll resolve this issue as soon as possible to minimize any impact on the launch of the ‘Caroz‘ product line.”
She bowed deeply. In front of so many people, she lowered herself completely, humbling herself to the
extreme.
Dignity? I don’t even know what that is anymore. All I know is that this is exactly what David wanted.
