Chapter 199
“No!” Thinking. Mason managed to hold his tongue in time.
Juliette hated the Vaughn family very much.
They would be doomed if she learned that she wasn’t a Vaughn in fact.
Therefore. Mason decided to keep the truth a secret from Juliette.
Juliette must have doubts about her identity, or she couldn’t have put forward such a question to Mason.
As a result. Mason couldn’t help but suspect that this question was the final test from Juliette…
He thought. “She may give us a way out if I tell her the truth.
“What if I don’t? Will we be doomed forever?”
Mason was in hesitation.
Juliette, what do you mean? A Vaughn by blood?” Evan asked.
“Literally. I am asking if Mason and Polly are my biological parents.”
“Come on! Of course they are. I am sure about that. You have my word that you are a Vaughn and my little sister,” Evan said decisively.
“You shouldn’t doubt your identity just because we were had to you.”
Juliette frowned slightly. “I asked you no questions. Let Mason answer my question. It is okay if Polly wants to do him the
favor.
Neither Mason nor Polly opened their mouths.
Evan urged his parents by saying, “Mom and Dad, tell Juliette that she is a Vaughn, your biological daughter, and my biological sister. Hurry up!”
Mason looked at Juliette. It seemed he had gained courage from his son.
“Yes! You are a Vaughn b
- You are the biological daughter of Polly and me,” Mason said in a firm voice.
For the Vaughn family, he had to protect the secret.
“Nobody will know the truth as long as we keep it to ourselves, Mason thought.
Given his situation, he had to claim that Juliette was a Vaughn even if she wasn’t.
He was left with no choice.
“Are you sure?” Juliette asked sofily as if she was in small talk with Mason.
Mason was persistent though his lips trembled uncontrollably. Tm quite sure!”
Juliette gave Mason a smile.

Her gaze was then shifted to Polly
“How about you, Polly? Do you still insist that I got pregnant at 18 years old because I shamelessly fooled around with men?”
Polly turned pale in the face, but she quickly collected herself.
She asked sofily but defiantly, “Didn’t you?”
Juliette looked at Mason. “Do you believe her words?”
Mason gave no answer.
Silence pervaded the room.
Evan said, “Juliette, let the past be the past, okay? No more discussion about it, and we will be good again.”
Juliette looked at Evan and then at Isla.
“I would like to spare you two, but your parents don’t agree.
Evan and Isla exchanged one glance with each other, and their expression was confused.
Puzzled! I can explain.” Juliette was very patient.
“Your mother, Polly, made me travel with her against my will after my 18th birthday.
“During the journey, we ran into human traffickers. To escape, she handed me over to Jack’s subordinates.
Jack Lee, Luke Thornton, and Shae Hodges. You heard of these three names, didn’t you? These three men are brutal, merciless, and vicious. You know that their victims never end well, don’t you?
“I made a narrow escape and went home. For the sake of her reputation, Polly told Mason that I had shamelessly eloped with
men
“Right then, I was confirmed to be pregnant, so your parents locked me up. After I delivered the child, they wiped my memory of that year and made me believe that the loss of my memory was a result of some terrible sickness.
“Then, they began to insult, slander, and abuse me. You two know what happened next. They thought I couldn’t find a man better than Finn because I was a piece of trash in their eyes.”
Both Evan and Isla shoul
heads to express their astonishment.
What they heard was appalling.
They used to dislike and bully Juliette because they had seen her as a bad woman.
Now, they were told that Juliette was a victim and that the culprit was their mother.
How shocking!
In the eyes of Evan and Isla, Polly was gentle and delicate, so how could she have done so many terrible things?
“Your father, Mason, knew the truth, but he sided with Polly. Because I had a child, he made decisions based on family interests. He wiped my memory, helped Polly maintain her reputation, and made me a bad woman in the eyes of the public.
Think, you two, can I forgive such vicious parents?”

Chapter 199
Isla and her brother were dumbfounded. Tears streamed down their faces as they muttered, “Impossible! Impossible!”
Why was the truth so different from what they had imagined?
Juliette must be lying!” they thought.
However, their parents‘ reactions suggested another possibility.
Juliette left her bed, walked up to Mason, and grabbed his collar.
“Five years ago, you sided with the evil. Now, you still lie to me about my identity.”
Juliette shook her head again and again.

“Neither you nor Polly are my biological parents. Five years ago, I overheard your conversation. Oh, I forgot to tell you one thing. I have my memory back.”
Instantly, Mason and Polly turned as white as a sheet.
The self–righteous Polly collapsed to the floor and held Juliette by the leg.
“Juliette, my bad. I was freaked out, so I made a blunder. Forgive me, please. I didn’t mean to slander you. I don’t know why I said those terrible things… I am sorry, sorry…
Juliette frowned.
How long did it cost her to hear an apology from Polly?
This was Polly’s first apology to Juliette.
In the past. Polly loved to lecture Juliette self–righteously.
Juliette, I lost my mind. I’m so sorry!” Mason seized the opportunity to grab Juliette’s hand and begged for forgiveness.
Juliette ruthlessly shook off the hands of the Vaughn couple. “Answer me. Who are my biological parents?”
