Chapter 0766
“I don’t want to go back to Valentia—I want to find Celeste I don’t know what she must be thinking, but whatever it is, it’s definitely not good.”
While everyone else was dealing with their own realities, Marcus had finally had time to calm down. He had been patiently taking care of his children, and just as Maximus had said, time and distance helped him see things differently.
Camille, on the other hand, had spent the entire time worrying about Valerie. She had practically been a mother to her, and now she felt torn–staying with Marcus to help with the twins, while at the same time wanting to run back to Valerie. Marcus saw the conflict in her, and the guilt weighed heavily on him.
“Camille, I promise that as soon as we have the chance to return to Valentia, we will. You’ll get to see Valerie, and I’ll have to talk to her. I know I forced you to come with me and the babies, but you need to understand–if I hadn’t, you, me, and the kids would’ve been in serious danger.”
“Marcus… What do you mean, danger?”
“There’s someone investigating my family’s murder. But as long as I stayed in Valentia, more and more articles about my past would keep coming out. Eventually, the person helping me wouldn’t be able to cover for me anymore.”
“Marcus…”
“Don’t worry, Camille. I’m not heartless. Frederick found out that Valerie is okay. It pains me to admit it, but Maximus is the one looking after her.
“The one I can’t forgive is Peter. He keeps taking advantage of Valerie’s vulnerability. I know she’s not in a good place, and that’s probably why she did what she did.”
“What are you talking about, Marcus?”
“Valerie kissed Peter. And who knows what else happened between them.”
“Marcus, I’m sure that’s not true. Valerie would never do something like that.”
“Camille, maybe the Valerie you and I used to know wouldn’t. But with everything that’s happened, I don’t think she’s always thinking clearly.”
[Palmer Group offices]
Frank Levett was reviewing some documents Greta had brought him for approval when suddenly, someone barged into his office. The receptionist walked in, accompanied by a group of officers and agents who were there for one reason–Frank Levett.
“Who the hell just storms into my office like this?” Frank snapped.
“Mr. Frank Levett?”
“That’s me.”
“You are under arrest. We have a warrant issued today. You are being charged with the following crimes: organ trafficking, human trafficking, drug trafficking, abuse of power, attempted murder, and rape.”
“What the hell are you talking about? This has to be some kind of sick joke, right?”

“You think you can just waltz in here and take me? I’m not going anywhere with you! Security!” Frank roared.
He knew that every single one of those charges was a lie–r at least, that’s what he told himself.
“Who sent you? This was Maximus Palmer, wasn’t it? How much did he pay you? Tell me!”
“Frank Levett, no one had to pay anything. The evidence was there. You weren’t careful enough to cover up all your dirty work,” a voice said calmly.
Anthony Moriarty stepped into the office, his presence radiating authority.
“You,” Frank sneered. “Who the hell do you think you are? Just because you’re the country’s most famous judge doesn’t give you the right to-”
“No, but it does give me the pleasure of watching you get arrested for all your damn crimes. Finally, your filthy family is going to pay for everything you’ve done–to me, and to all the families you’ve left shattered with your corruption.”
Frank tried to resist, but two officers grabbed him, forced his hands behind his back, and snapped on the cuffs.
“Greta! Call my lawyer!” Frank barked.
Anthony Moriarty was one of the most respected judges in the court. However, despite everything, there were still people in the system loyal to Frank Levett. One of them had been assigned to the Bartz case, with the clear intention of blocking any progress. But what Peter and Anthony had been waiting for was this judge’s retirement. Once he was gone, the case would be reassigned to one of the newer judges, and at that point, Frank Levett wouldn’t stand a chance of getting away with it.
