Chapter 122
Helen rushed to the hospital, pushing open the door, only to freeze in shock.
Why was Emily there?
“Emily?” Helen was equally surprised.
“You two know each other?” Richard asked, looking between them.
“Yeah,” Emily nodded. “We’re good friends.”
“You’re good friends?” Richard repeated, his voice dripping with disbelief as he gritted his teeth. His usually gentle face turned stormy, and he glared fiercely at Helen standing in the doorway.
Helen chuckled nervously, taking a step back as if to leave. now,” she said quickly, trying to shut the door behind her.
Well, since you’re doing fine, I’ll be heading out Take care, little bro-”
“Wait, ‘little bro‘?” Emily repeated, her confusion growing She still had no idea why Helen was here, let alone why she was calling Richard her little brother.
Wilfred stepped in with a calm smile, explaining, “She’s my second sister, Helen.”
Emily’s eyes widened in disbelief. Helen’s brother was Wilfred? Suddenly, things started to make sense–Helen’s previous claim that her brother could help her leave the coastal city wasn’t a joke after all.
“You! Get back here!” Richard shouted, his frustration bubbling over. “Explain yourself! I’m your older brother!”
Helen, never one to back down, halted mid–step. She spun around and shot back, “Who’s older than who? I was adopted before you, so I’m your big sister!”
“They’ve been like this since they were kids,” Wilfred said with a knowing smile.
“Oh, I see,” Emily replied, amused.
Helen and Richard bickered for a while before Helen threw an arm around Emily’s shoulder. “So, what do you think? My family’s pretty great, huh? I told you I’d introduce you to them someday in Merika State!”
“You’re planning to go to Merika State?” Wilfred asked, catching the tail end of their conversation.
Emily nodded. “It’s something I’ve been considering.”
“Then we can travel together,” Wilfred offered warmly. “Once I’ve wrapped up things here.
“Let’s all have dinner together tonight since we’re all here, Wilfred added.
“I’ll pass. Tonight I have…” Emily started to decline. Although she didn’t fully understand everything they were saying, it felt inappropriate for her to join a family dinner uninvited.
Helen quickly hooked her arm through Emily’s and playfully swayed, pouting like a child. “Oh, come on! You’re my bestie! We haven’t seen each other in days. Forget about Justin! He’s a grown man, he’ll survive without you!”
Wilfred joined in with a warm smile. “Since you and Helen are friends, you’re practically family. No need to feel uncomfortable.”
Caught between their persistence, Emily had no choice but to give in. She quickly sent Justin a message, letting him know she would be late.
Meanwhile, Richard glanced down at his injured foot and let out an exaggerated wail. “So, you’re all going out to eat and leaving me here? What about me?”

“That’s what you get for twisting your ankle as soon as you got off the plane,” Helen teased, sticking out her tongue at him.
“Alright, that’s enough,” Emily intervened gently, stopping Helen from continuing. “How about I go out and bring something back for you to eat?”
Richard huffed but softened. “At least she cares about me.’
ネ
Ignoring him, Helen pulled out her phone. “Why bother? Let’s just order delivery. The service here is way faster than in Merika State!”
She browsed through the menu enthusiastically but froze when the total came to several hundred dollars. Shutting the app, she walked over to Wilfred, stretched out her hand, and grinned. “Brother Wilfred, it’s on you. Use your phone to order, okay?”
“I don’t have that app installed,” Wilfred said indulgently, clearly amused. “I’ll transfer the money to your account instead.”
“Deal,” Hèlen agreed eagerly. Wilfred’s generosity meant she could pocket some of the extra money for herself.
When Helen had run away from home, she had taken only a small amount of money with her, which was now almost gone. The family had deliberately stopped sending her funds to teach her a lesson, hoping she would come back when her finances ran dry.
Dinner ended up being a lively affair. The four of them chatted and laughed well into the evening, with most of the noise coming from Helen and Richard’s playful arguments. Meanwhile, Emily and Wilfred sat back, listening and occasionally chiming in with a comment or two.
