Chapter 124
“Jacob!” Emma hissed, putting down her mouse and lowering her voice.
“Well, well, thinking of me now, are you?” Jacob’s amused tone came through the line.
Emma glanced at the employees outside her office, then quickly closed the blinds. “What do you want?”
“Nothing much, just missed you,” Jacob said, his voice dripping with mockery. “Missed how you sounded when you were under me, how your pale skin-”
“Shut up!” Emma snapped, cutting him off.
“Alright, I’ll stop talking,” Jacob said lazily. “But that video I have? It won’t stay quiet for long.”
“What do you want, Jacob?” Emma demanded, her voice tense.
“Meet me at the Berlin Hotel, Presidential Suite.”
In the shared team workspace, Emma grabbed her bag and left for the day.
Only after she had gone did her teammates dare to start whispering.
“She really must’ve gotten in through the back door,” one muttered. “Does no work, leaves on time, and still gets all the credit.”
“Quiet down,” another warned. “It’s not like any of us had the luck to catch the CEO’s eye.”
The team leader suddenly burst out of his office, visibly annoyed. “Where’s the data report? Who’s responsible for this? It’s still not on my desk! Do you all want to lose your jobs?”
A timid voice piped up, “It was Emma’s task, but she’s already left.”
The team leader’s expression darkened. After taking a moment to regain composure, he pointed at the same employee. “You do it. I want it on my desk in 30 minutes.”
The office fell silent as the door slammed shut. The unlucky employee slumped in their chair, regretfully muttering, “I should’ve just kept quiet.”

After their intimate time together, Emily headed to the private suite’s restroom to take a shower. Meanwhile, Justin worked late into the night, buried in paperwork. Unable to stay awake, Emily eventually fell asleep on the bed in the suite.
The next morning, senior executives arrived in the CEO’s office to report on the project’s progress. Still groggy, Emily opened the door to the suite, stepping directly into the office.
Her sudden appearance caught the attention of the three executives, and their gazes locked for an awkward moment of silence.
Justin, unfazed, kept his head down, the sound of his pen scratching across the documents breaking the stillness.
“You all continue,” Emily said quickly, reading the room. She closed the door and retreated back into the suite without further comment.

Chapter 124
Rumors quickly spread throughout the company that Emma had fallen out of favor with the CEO.
Hearing the news, Jack’s interest was piqued. “If I can’t get the original, a stand–in might do just fine,” he thought.
After preening himself in the mirror, he grabbed some files and made his way downstairs.
Knocking on Emma’s office door, he stepped inside and shut the door behind him.
“Miss Xander, here’s the data you requested,” he said, leaning slightly on her desk as he handed over the documents.
“Thank you, Mr. Griffin, for bringing it personally,” Emma said, reaching for the files. But when she tugged, his hand didn’t let go.
“What’s the meaning of this?” she asked, looking up at him.
Jack let his gaze linger on the visible part of her figure, smirking. “No meaning at all. Just thought if there’s anything you don’t understand, I could help… personally.”
Emma gave a polite smile, her voice calm. “That won’t be necessary. The CEO will handle any questions I have.”
Jack scoffed. “Haven’t you heard? The CEO has someone new by his side now. Seems like he doesn’t have time for you anymore.”
Unfazed, Emma replied slowly, “She’s only under contract. It’s about to expire, and Justin doesn’t plan to renew it. She’s an orphan and once the contract ends, she’ll have nowhere to go. Let’s see if some kind soul takes her in.”
Jack chuckled. “Miss Xander, you really are something. No wonder you caught the CEO’s eye. And I do love helping those in need.”
Meanwhile, Justin was focused on his work, while Emily, feeling bored, lounged on the sofa, silently playing an online game with Richard. They had exchanged contact information the day before and were now teaming up in the game with the sound muted.
