Chapter 126
When Emily arrived at the hospital, Helen was already there with the takeout. Emily pushed open the door, holding a bag of spicy Cajun crawfish in one hand.
Helen eagerly reached out to grab it. “Is this from Maggie’s Crawfish? My favorite! Baby, I love you–mwah, mwah!”
The small table on Richard’s hospital bed was already set with the takeout that had arrived earlier.
Richard sat on the hospital bed with one leg bent, still bickering with Helen. “Ugh, it’s just crawfish. Is it really worth all that excitement?” he teased.
“You didn’t get any, did you? Too bad!” Helen smirked, shaking her head to taunt him. “Serves you right!”
Frustrated by her smugness, Richard turned to Emily for support. “Sis, look at her!”
Emily, just finished washing her hands, smiled as she walked over. “Alright, you two, stop arguing. I bought plenty. It’s enough for all three of us.”
“Hmph!” Richard, now emboldened, said smugly, “See? Sis brought me some too!”
“Not for you!” Helen teased, playfully trying to snatch the bag, while Richard retaliated with mock indignation. The two went back and forth, putting on a lighthearted show that made the room feel warm and lively.
Halfway through their meal, Richard suddenly said, “By the way, Mom’s coming to Haven State.”
“What?” Helen froze mid–bite, her face filled with panic. “Why’s she coming all the way here? Isn’t it too far? We’ll be back soon anyway!”
“It’s because of the trouble you caused,” Richard said, clearly enjoying the drama from the sidelines. “Just wait! Mom’s coming to deal with you.”
“I…” Helen hesitated, fear and a touch of guilt creeping into her expression. “I was just…” She glanced at Emily, her words faltering. “I was just trying to find my sister,” she silently remarked.
Emily, listening to their exchange, couldn’t help but feel intrigued. What kind of mother could strike fear into someone as fiery as Helen?
“It doesn’t matter what your reason was. You can’t just sneak off like that. It’s dangerous! Do you have any idea how worried Mom was?” Richard set down his utensils, taking the opportunity to lecture her. –
“Well, I’m fine, aren’t I?” Helen hunched her shoulders defensively.
“If something had happened, she’d already be here.”
Emily was growing used to their bickering. As long as they didn’t escalate into an actual fight, she didn’t intervene and quietly checked her phone instead.
A new message had arrived.
It was an MMS. She tapped on it and saw a photo: Justin, sitting across from a stunning, unfamiliar woman at what looked like an intimate dinner. The woman was smiling warmly, seemingly engaged in pleasant
conversation.
The text beneath the photo read, “He’s out again with another woman behind your back. How long will you keep tolerating this?”
Emily frowned. Did the sender know her?

Chapter 126
She glanced at the number. It was anonymous.
Her social circle was small. She couldn’t figure out who sent it, nor did she want to waste the mental energy trying. With a flick of her thumb, she deleted the message. Whoever Justin chose to be with or marry had nothing to do with her anymore. All she needed was to wait for the right time to leave Lincourt City.
After their meal, they spent some more time with Richard before deciding it was time to leave. When Emily learned Helen hadn’t driven, they each called for separate rides and left the hospital.
On the way back, Emily received a call from Justin. It sounded like he was also on his way back to the villa.
“I had dinner with Helen earlier,” Emily said. “It’s all wrapped up now, and I’m almost home.”
“Good. I’ll see you at home,” he replied in his usual cool tone.
After the call ended, Emily looked out the car window, watching the scenery blur as it sped by. Noticing they were nearing the gate of the neighborhood, she picked up her bag, ready to get out.
However, as they approached the guard station, the car didn’t slow down. Instead, it suddenly accelerated past the gate.
Caught off guard, Emily was jolted back against the seat..“Driver, you passed the gate. Please turn around and drop me off at the entrance.”
