David’s brow was furrowed tightly.
After a long moment, he nodded. “Alright, I believe you I believe that you were harmed by the Brooks family, and I even believe that on your wedding night they dared to do such audacious things… but Caroline, you…”
He spat out each word forcefully, “You don’t even know who the rich man who bought you is, yet you clearly know the child was conceived under these circumstances, you should have unhesitatingly terminated it! But what are you doing? Hmm?”
She was protecting the child inside her with her life! She didn’t even know who the father of the child was!
A transaction led to pregnancy, she didn’t think of aborting, starting over, forgetting the past, but instead wanted to give birth!
Caroline choked up, “New life is innocent… Does it matter who the father of the child is? So what if there is no father? I don’t care. All I know is, I am the mother of the child, this is my flesh and blood.”
“It’s a bastard!”
“No, with me here, they are not wild children, they have a mother!” Caroline argued passionately, “You are not an orphan, you wouldn’t understand my feelings! David, I have no parents, no relatives, the child is the only person I’m related to by blood, I can’t bear it!”
Her voice was shrill and broke.
David looked at her expressionlessly.
After a brief silence, he finally spoke, “Are you sure all this was the work of the Brooks family?”
“Absolutely sure!” Caroline responded, “The last time we returned to the Brooks family’s place, I asked Samantha privately, and she admitted it herself. If you don’t believe me, you can check.”
“If it was their doing, how could they possibly not know who the buyer was?”
Caroline nodded, “That’s what the Brooks family told me, they said the buyer wanted to protect their identity information and bought it anonymously, never showing their face. Whether it’s true or not, only they know.”
She said this, but inside she was calculating…
Nash must have hidden it well, right? Hopefully, David won’t find out.
Because, if the Brooks family had known it was Nash who wanted to buy, they definitely would have offered a higher price, or simply not sold at all.
