Nash roared as he pushed himself to his feet.
Earlier, when David had punched him again and again, he hadn’t fought back. He hadn’t even lifted a hand
to defend himself.
But now, all he wanted to do was beat David to a pulp.
Fueled by rage, he lunged forward. Yet, his body was battered and exhausted, his face swollen and bruised. He was no match for David.
Before he could even graze the hem of David’s shirt, he was shoved aside.
Nash hit the ground hard.
“Why are you so worked up if the child isn’t yours?” David asked coolly. “Whether it lives or not has nothing to do with you.”
Without hesitation, Nash shot back, “Because it’s Caroline’s child!”
David’s lips pressed into a thin line.
That sentence was far too familiar.
Caroline had said the same thing to him, more than once. It didn’t matter who the father was. She was the mother.
It was her child, her bloodline.
Now, hearing Nash echo those very words, it became clear why they had once loved each other so deeply.
“The choice of whether to keep the child or not belongs to Caroline alone,” Nash gritted out. “None of us have the right to decide for her. If she doesn’t want it, she can go to the hospital herself. But if she does, then she has every right to bring that child into this world.”
David cast him a sidelong glance but remained silent.
Nash clenched his fists, his voice trembling with emotion. His eyes glistened. “She’s a person, a living, breathing human being. She’s not some object, not some decoration to be discarded at will! And you’re her husband. Yet, you stand by and watch as she suffers, unmoved!” He let out a hollow laugh. “David, if you don’t cherish her, then let her go! You control the Ellison family and Ellison Group now. You’re powerful beyond measure, not the dying man clinging to life in a hospital bed. You don’t need her as a good–luck charm anymore!”
David’s tone remained indifferent. “She’s the woman I bought for five billion dollars. Whether I want her or not, that’s for me to decide. Who do you think you are?”

“Besides, it was your fiancée who kidnapped my wife,” David added. “If anything, you’re the one at fault. I’m the victim here. What right do you have to accuse me?”
Nash spun on his heel and bolted toward the door. “I’m going to save her!”
He staggered as he ran, knocking into furniture, sending objects crashing to the floor.
David followed, his pace steady.
Because, in truth, Nash wasn’t wrong.
