Chapter 21
**Ivan**
A loud pounding rang through my head; it seemed to come from all corners of my head, each one bouncing off the other.
My head was cramped tightly, and I struggled to open my eyes.
I ignored the pain throbbing through my head, mentally scanning my memory filled with bits and pieces of the last 4 hours.
The strange letters we found in my mom’s house. The mysterious signature ‘Zeke‘.
I recalled feeling silver’s unrest. As a Lycan wolf, being able to sense strange things and also feel what my mate was feeling, albeit slightly as we were not bonded, was one of my advantages
Shortly after we discovered the letters, silver began to howl uncomfortably, giving me the feeling that all wasn’t well at Ravenwood Pack.
We hurried out of Pixie village and into the car, speeding along the road.
I prayed silently, hoping all was well in the pack and Mallory was all right, but my heart refused to calm down.
Silver’s unrest didn’t help matters.
My mind linked with Mallory’s hurriedly but found her unresponsive which sent me panicking.
“You need to calm down Ivan,” Kelvin’s worried voice chided as increased the speed.
His warning came a tad late as a stray animal crossed our part, making me swerve to avoid it in a hurry and crash headfirst
into a tree.
“Ivan, help!” Mallory’s voice reached my mind before my consciousness blacked out.
“Kelvin?”
I forced my eyes to stay open, fumbling in the darkness for my beta.
He let out a painful groan, making a relieved sigh escape my lips.
“Ivan? Are you okay?”
becaus
“Yes. I’m fine. We have to go now the pack is in danger.” answered, reaching for the key in the engine.
The car roared to life, thankfully, and we sped along the road.
“Mallory? Mal?” I called out through the mind–link but was met with silence.
“Silver, can you mind–link, Kira?”
“No response. Hurry up.” He retorted.
The car sped along, carefully this time so we don’t run into an accident and delay again.
1 cursed myself mentally, praying and hoping I wouldn’t arrive too late and meet my pack members and Luna dead.
“The edge dwellers invaded the pack. They escaped prison earlier in the day.” Kelvin informed me, getting information
from the head warrior.

“What? Why weren’t we informed?” I thundered, plotting a thousand ways to tear those no–good wolves apart.
“Luna Evie ordered them not to disturb us and took measures which failed.” He answered
FPA
“Damn! If anything happens to her, so Jhelp me, moon goddess Alpha Tommen will pay with his blood.” I replied, incensed.
Why didn’t she inform me?
Reaching the boundary, the smell of smoke and blood wafted to my nostrils increasing my already fueling anger.
I didn’t bother to properly extinguish the engine before rushing out of the car and towards the Den.
From the corner of my eyes, I saw Kelvin rushing towards the south wing where the smoke came from.
The Den was dark as the power was off and the smell of blood grew thicker.
“Mallory?” I hollered, following the thick scent and adjusting my eyes to the darkness.
I reached the source of the stench and only a dark patch remained on the floor. The blood was hers but where was she?
I searched the den with no sign of Mallory and ran out towards the west side of the pack.
The west side was most abandoned and served as a shed for weapons and training. Her scent was getting stronger as I approached.
The shed sat at the end. The locks were broken, and the door was partially opened, which signaled the presence of someone. I felt my waistband for my gun, loaded with silver bullets and stalked cautiously towards the shed, my senses alert.
I kicked open the door and saw Mallory in her wolf form, her white fur stained with blood. My eyes blazed at the sight and I could feel my blood boil.
I willed myself to calm down and stared intensely at her, my heart calming as I caught the rise and fall of her chest.
Silver lashed at me to be let out at the sight of his injured mate but I kept the leash on, knowing I was being watched by the intruders.
I walked in slowly, my eyes scanning the surroundings, but I found nothing.
Maybe they left after dragging her here. But that wasn’t the case.
A low growl behind a counter sent my eyes straining in that direction, and I caught sight of a large wolf walking purposely towards me.
Another growl sounded, this one from two other werewolves who appeared from the shadows.
Well played! An ambush,” I mused to myself.
I walked forward slowly, my gun clutched tightly in my hand and stood in front of Mallory shielding her from what was
down.
about to go
As they stalked towards me, I let out a terrifying howl that echoed throughout the pack, shaking the ground and sending werewolves whimpering
The Alpha command.
The command immobilizes werewolves, mostly affecting the weak, and also gives away my position to Kelvin and the rest of the warrior soldiers.

Two of the edge dwellers before me were affected by the howl and cowered in fear while the biggest among them shook slightly but stood its ground, its fiery red eyes piercing mine,
Bang!
A loud gunshot rang out and my silver bullet pierced one of the weaker wolves through his eyes..
Another gunshot rang out at the other wolf who missed my buller narrowly, jumping in the air with his claws barred.
I dodged the claws, stumbled back and landed a hard kick on its face.
Seeing an opening, the large werewolf leapt up at me, its sharp claws digging into my back and a painful howl escaped me.
I shifted into silver immediately, my canines sinking into the neck of the weaker wolf and flinging him against the wall.
I swiped blindingly at the bigger wolf, my claw finding a home in one of its eyes while his claw tore through my fur.
The werewolf I threw aside stood up and ran towards me, teeth bared, when suddenly a dagger found its way to his neck.
I slugged a hard–clawed blow across the bigger wolf’s eyes, pushing him off, and turned to see Mallory in her naked human form.
She threw the dagger.
“Watch out!” She cried and I hurriedly turned back, dodging the teeth that came straight for my neck.
My vision blurred and I knew my time was up.
“No, not now! Just a bit more time,” I grunted, picking up my gun.
My claws gradually reversed and my teeth returned to their shape.
I shot at the snarling wolf, who kept dodging my bullets, keeping Mallory behind me as the wolf prepared its attack.
Mallory reached over and handed me the dagger she retrieved from the dead wolf’s neck.
I stumbled slightly, feeling dizzy. The accident, wounds and also the effects of shifting into silver were taking their toll on
- me.
As the wolf charged towards me, bouncing off a cabinet and launching itself at Mallory, a gunshot rang out, and my bullet found its way straight into his heart.
“Bastard!” I spat out before slumping on the cold hard floor.
“Ivan? Are you okay?” Mallory’s worried face danced in my sight
…. Ivan……. you okay?” her voice sounded so distant, worried but warm, pulling me into a sweet embrace
I smiled gently, my hands reaching up to cup her face.
“I’m okay,”
