Chapter 1
“Miss Spencer, are you certain about your decision to donate all your organs?” the doctor asked.
“Yes, I’m sure.” Evelyn Spencer replied with a faint smile, as if finding relief in her decision.
The doctor hesitated before continuing, “Although the cancer has reached an advanced stage, aggressive treatment could still extend your life.”
Evelyn’s smile deepened as she shook her head without hesitation. “There’s no need, doctor. I’ve been waiting for death each day. I probably have about a month left. When the time comes, I’ll notify the hospital in advance so you can harvest all my organs to help others. Thank you for your concern.”
She stood up and left, still wearing that smile. The doctor watched her leave in astonishment, having never encountered a patient so seemingly at peace with their approaching death.
Just as Evelyn exited the hospital, her phone rang. It was Issac Hernandez.
“Where were you today?” his cold voice carried through the phone.
Evelyn’s fingers tensed around her phone. “Just a cold,” she lied.
Issac clearly didn’t care about the details. “Come to Riverside Club, Suite 314.”
Without protest, Evelyn headed there immediately.
Inside the suite, several of Issac’s business partners were waiting.
“Ah, the famous Miss Spencer! We’ve heard you can hold your liquor.”
“They say you’ve closed many deals over drinks. Show us what you’ve got!”
“If you can finish these 99 shots, we’ll sign the contract today!”
From his place on the leather couch, Issac watched with an enigmatic smile. “Don’t disappoint me.”
Everyone watched expectantly as Evelyn picked up the first glass. “I’ll do my best.”
With each shot, the burning in her stomach intensified. The pain was ten times worse now with her stomach cancer, but she kept her face neutral even as her hands began to shake and her complexion
turned ashen.

sull, she didn’t stop. One glass after another, while Issac observed with cold detachment.
Finally, under everyone’s amazed stares, she finished all 99 shots.
The room erupted in applause. “Incredible! Simply incredible!”
Sweat beaded on Evelyn’s forehead as she forced a smile.
One of the business partners turned to her with interest. “Miss Spencer, you’re wasted working for Hernandez. Look how he treats you no regard for a lady’s well–being. Why not come work for me
instead?”
Evelyn managed a polite smile and declined softly. “Thank you for the offer, but Mr. Hernandez is a good employer.”
“I’ll triple your salary!”
But Evelyn shook her head without hesitation.
Everyone looked puzzled. “Why won’t you leave?”
Her smile faded slightly. “I’m here to repay a debt.”
The business partner assumed she meant financial debt to Hernandez Industries and dropped the subject with regret.
In the end, the deal was successfully closed.
As the gathering dispersed and night fell, the driver pulled up to take them home. Evelyn automatically took her place in the front passenger seat – Issac refused to let her sit beside him in the back.
When they reached her apartment building, Evelyn thanked them quietly and stepped out, exhausted. She didn’t notice Issac following her.
He watched her unsteady steps, his dark eyes growing intense.
Evelyn remained unaware of his presence until she reached her door and took out her keys. Suddenly, a hand gripped her wrist, spinning her around and pressing her against the wall.
The motion sensor light flickered on just as Issac gripped her chin and kissed her fiercely. The kiss was deep and prolonged, leaving Evelyn breathless.
When he finally pulled away, his eyes were rimmed red, his voice shaking despite being the aggressor:

“Always putting on this act – are you trying to make me feel sorry for you? Why didn’t you take their offer? Why won’t you just leave, Evelyn?”
Still catching her breath, Evelyn fought to keep her composure. “I have to stay and atone for what I did.”
Her words ignited Issac’s fury. He slammed his fist into the wall beside her head.
Hatred blazed in his eyes like a knife, cutting her to pieces. “Then why don’t you just die? Go die!”
Evelyn gave a bitter smile – she was already fulfilling his wish.
Before she could speak, Issac’s phone rang. Looking down, she saw the caller’s name: Summer Hayes, his current fiancée,
At Summer’s call, Issac’s breathing grew heavy. He turned away, seemingly collecting himself.
When he answered, his voice was low and gentle, transformed back into the refined businessman everyone knew.
“Summer,” he answered softly.
Whatever she said made his expression shift. Without another word to Evelyn, he turned and left.
Evelyn leaned against the wall, watching his figure disappear. Only then did she rush inside to her bathroom, violently retching.
The episode seemed endless. When she finally looked up, she saw the toilet bowl filled with blood.
Bright red, everywhere…
Mechanically, she flushed the toilet. As she tried to stand, her weakness overcame her, and she collapsed
unconscious.
Evelyn drifted into a dream.
She was back in college, walking under the sycamore trees with Issac and his sister, Sophia Hernandez.
“Eve, please come with me to the mixer this weekend!” Sophia tugged at her arm playfully. “The Business School is meeting up with the Law School students.”
Issac’s expression darkened as he pulled Evelyn away. “Sophia, did I say you could borrow my girlfriend?”
“You’re so possessive, brother!”

Chapter 1
Those were such beautiful days….
Evelyn had been an orphan since childhood. In college, she met Sophia and they became inseparable hest
friends.
Issac, Sophia’s brother, was the campus ice prince dignified, aloof, and famously unapproachable. He would receive stacks of love letters daily, only to discard them all. At first, Evelyn could barely gather the courage to speak to him.
Yet Issac kept appearing in her life organizing her study notes, accompanying her to the library, offering rides home.
One rainy day, he came to pick her up when she’d forgotten her umbrella.
Standing together under his umbrella, Evelyn finally gathered the courage to ask: “Issac, are you only being kind to me because of Sophia?”
The young man’s expression turned stern as he backed her against a wall. “Evelyn Spencer, you can be incredibly dense. Let me show you exactly why I’m so good to you.”
With that, he held the back of her head and kissed her.
After that day, they became a couple.
Until five years ago, just before their wedding.
Evelyn and Sophia had gone to see a movie. It was late when they were walking home and passed through a narrow alley where they encountered a group of drunk men.
The men were clearly intoxicated, making vulgar comments and blocking their escape from the alley.
Both young women were trembling with fear. In the end, Sophia used all her strength to hold back the thugs, screaming, “Eve, run!”
Evelyn knew they were no match for the drunk men. So she ran.
She ran to the next street to get help.
But when she returned with help, the alley was deathly quiet. The drunk men were gone, and among chaos lay Sophia – bloodied, violated, and lifeless.
When Issac arrived, he found his sister’s brutalized body.

The scene made it clear what horrific torture she had endured.
His mind went blank as he grabbed Evelyn’s hand, his voice filled with pain and despair: “Why did you run? Why did you leave her alone? Evelyn, why did you run!”
Evelyn had no answer. She hated herself more than anyone else could.
After that, the Hernandez family never forgave her.
She lost her best friend and became enemies with the man she deeply loved.
But now, at least, she was dying.
Soon she could apologize to Sophia in person, and Issac could finally be free of her.
