David’s face showed genuine shock.
“You’re saying Elizabeth is pregnant?” He slowly rose to his feet. “How far along?”
“Not quite two months,” Samantha answered.
With that, David immediately understood.
The child was his.

Samantha watched his reaction with satisfaction, though she kept up her trembling, tearful act. “Mr. Ellison, Elizabeth has thought of nothing but you. Every day, she worries if you’ve eaten, if you’re sleeping well, if work is tiring you. She never spares a thought for herself. Even when her period was late for a whole month, she didn’t take it seriously. Only in the past few days, when she lost her appetite, couldn’t keep food down, and started dry heaving, did she finally go to the hospital. And then, she found out she was pregnant. The doctor said her condition is delicate. She need to stay in the hospital to protect the baby, or she might miscarry. Otherwise, she would have crawled here if she had to, just to beg for your forgiveness. But for the sake of the child, she can’t risk her health…..

The absurdity of it all was undeniable.

That one sentence was enough to make Matthew and Samantha’s hearts leap with joy.
As expected, a child was the strongest weapon.
Mr. Ellison is even sending a car to take us home. There’s no way he’ll come after us now.
