Caroline gripped the phone tightly, still struggling to collect herself.
She turned her head, gazing out at the city lights.
The night was far from over. Would David really let he go without touching her?
She had no idea. But she knew she couldn’t escape.

When the hotel staff delivered a full bucket of ice, Caroline took a deep breath before knocking on the bathroom door.
“I left the ice outside the doo-
Before she could finish, David interrupted, “Come in.”
She had no choice but to brace herself and step inside.
It’s fine, she told herself. David was in the bathtub, only his upper body exposed. As long as she didn’t look down–just kept her eyes on his face–everything would be okay.
She wasn’t a voyeur, after all. But she had forgotten something important…

“Can you at least turn around? Or put on a towel?”
David raised an eyebrow. “Are you ordering me?”
“It’s called basic decency!”
“I’m giving you permission to look.”

Caroline clenched her teeth, steeled herself, and rushed over to the tub. In one quick motion, she dumped the entire bucket of ice inside, turned on the faucet, and let the freezing water flow.
“Done! I’m leaving now!
“Leaving?”
David grabbed her wrist. “Stay here.”
Then, he stepped into the tub and sank into the icy water.
A bone–chilling cold swept over him, making his brows Jurrow slightly.
But it worked. The unbearable heat in his body quickly subsided.
He never thought he would one day have to rely on this method to suppress his urges.
Especially when Caroline, his wife was sitting right next to him.
He could see her, touch her–yet he couldn’t have her.
Would there ever come a day when Caroline willingly surrendered herself to me? Probably not. Which meant, eventually, I’d just have to take her.
His patience wouldn’t last forever. The next time his temper flared, he might not hold back.
Caroline crouched by the bathtub, cautiously watching his expression. “Are you…. feeling better now?”
David shot her a lazy glance. “What do you think?”
“Seems like it’s working.”
Caroline reached out and dipped a finger into the water testing the temperature.
Cold!
She quickly pulled her hand back, but before she could fully withdraw, a firm grip closed around her wrist.
David’s hand.
Without warning, he yanked her hand deeper into the freezing water.
“David, you-!”
Caroline gasped, trying to pull away.
But she was no match for him. The harder she struggled, the tighter he held on.

Her fingertips brushed against something.
