Andrew pondered. What were these two doing here of all places?

Caroline cleared her throat but said nothing. She didn’t have the nerve to speak up. Even though nothing had actually happened between her and David in the women’s restroom, the situation itself wasn’t exactly dignified.
“Something wrong?” David asked casually, completely unfazed. There wasn’t a hint of embarrassment on his face if anything, his tone carried a trace of impatience. “If not, step aside.
Andrew was still terrified of him. He quickly moved to the side. “David, please.”
But David didn’t move. Instead, he cast Andrew a glance–one filled with clear disapproval.
Andrew immediately caught on and quickly turned to Caroline. “Caroline, after you.”
Only then did David withdraw his gaze. Caroline is my wife. Whatever treatment I received, she deserved the
samme.
As the two of them walked away, Andrew straightened up, clenching his fists tightly.
In front of David, he was nothing more than a lackey–bowing, scraping, constantly watching his face for cues. Even that woman, Caroline, was above him. He had to be polite to her, had to smile at her.
He was sick of it.
“One day, I’ll turn things around, Andrew muttered through gritted teeth. ‘David, I’m still young. The future is long. Who knows what’ll happen? It’s way too soon to talk about winners and losers. The one who laughs last, laughs best! When the time comes, I’ll seize my opportunity–take back the Ellison family, take back Ellison Group, and get my mother out of that place. Then, David, you’ll be nothing but an ant in my hands, and I’ll crush you however I please!”
Just the thought of it made him feel better.
For now, he would endure. He would wait for the right moment.
Back at the office, Caroline deliberately kept a good sixteen to twenty feet between her and David, She let him walk ahead while she lagged behind, dawdling, pretending to examine things here and there.
David glanced back, his expression turning cold.
Oh, so she is playing that game again? She needs to be put in her place.
“Caroline,” he called out, his voice deep and commanding, loud enough to echo through the office space.
Immediately, heads turned.
Employees passing by stole glances at Caroline, then at David.
Caroline wanted to disappear into the floor. He is doing this on purpose!

But a nearby coworker nudged her urgently. “Mr. Ellison is calling you. Why are you just standing there? Hurry up, or you’re dead!”
With no way out and dozens of eyes watching. Caroline gritted her teeth and walked toward David.
She kept her distance, putting on a formal front. “Good afternoon, Mr. Ellison. What can I do for you?”
David didn’t say a word.
He simply stepped forward–closing the gap between them–and leaned in slightly, his body looming over
hers.
He had done this move countless times before.
But never in public. Never in the company, where everyone could see.
Caroline’s heart nearly leaped out of her throat, but she forced herself to stay calm. He wouldn’t do anything too bold her…. right? There are too many eyes on us. Stay calm. Don’t panic. Maybe he is just trying to scare me.
If David really did try something inappropriate, she’d deal with it then.
