“Take it away!” Elizabeth snapped, her voice laced with irritation. “Who could possibly have the appetite for this right now?”
Her expression darkened. “Are you blind? Can’t you see we’re in the middle of something? Who gave you permission to come in?”
The servant, startled into silence, hurriedly turned and retreated without another word.
Elizabeth scoffed, nostrils flaring. “What is that disgusting sour smell? It’s enough to turn my stomach.”
“Ms. Elizabeth, it’s… it’s prune juice,” the servant stammered before vanishing,
Elizabeth scoffed. “Isn’t this the kind of thing pregnant women crave? You know that old wives‘ tale, craving sour means it’s a boy, spicy means it’s a girl…” Her voice drifted as a thought suddenly clicked.
A slow, derisive smirk spread across her face. “Well, that b*tch must love drinking it. After all, she’s carrying twins.”
The words had barely left her lips when Samantha suddenly reached for her hand.
“Mom?” Elizabeth blinked in surprise. “Did you think of something?”
Samantha didn’t answer immediately. Instead, her gaze locked onto Matthew’s, sharp and calculating. “Matthew, we’ve long passed the point of no return. This isn’t a battle we can walk away from. Either we destroy Caroline, or she destroys us. And since we’ve come this far, why not go all in?”
“All in?”
“Yes,” Samantha said, voice unwavering. “We’ve already done so much. What’s one more move?”
Matthew’s brows furrowed. “What exactly are you suggesting?”
“If Caroline can get pregnant, so can Elizabeth.”
Matthew scoffed, waving a dismissive hand. “Nonsense. Even with the drug. Mr. Ellison refused to touch Elizabeth. How is she supposed to be pregnant? Will a baby appear out of thin air?”
Elizabeth was equally confused. “Exactly, Mom. I’d love nothing more than–to be pregnant, but Mr. Ellison and I… nothing ever happened between us.”
“Who says nothing happened?” Samantha’s lips curled into a slow, sinister’smile. “That night, Mr. Ellison. entered the wrong room and slept with you, didn’t he?
“But he actually slept with Caroline, not me…”
“And who, aside from us, knows that?” Samantha’s tone was deliberate, measured. “As far as Mr. Ellison is concerned, the woman that night was you.”
Understanding dawned on them.

If they told David that Elizabeth was pregnant, the entire dynamic would shift. For the sake of the child, he wouldn’t pursue retribution. He wouldn’t settle scores. Elizabeth’s position beside him would be secured
once more.
Elizabeth was momentarily speechless, struggling to process it. “This…”
“Our only path forward is for you to claim you’re pregnant, Samantha said firmly. “Caroline conceived after just one night, didn’t she? A single encounter, and he was pregnant. The only difference is, she carries the true bloodline, while your womb remains empty.”
Since Elizabeth had already assumed Caroline’s identity and insisted she was the woman from that night. it only made sense to take it a step further and claim she was carrying David’s child as well

Caroline had been the real woman that night. She was the one carrying David’s child. Elizabeth had been nothing more than an imposter. And now, they wanted to fake a pregnancy.
