Chapter 60
Alice looked intently at Lake, curious about the answer herself. Seeing her mocking expression, Luke had a sudden realization. He’d suspected it; Alice had always been talented at gaming. The girl who’d mastered the twelve–hit combo was no longer the little girl who trailed behind him. She’d grown, surpassing him.
Chloe watched, seething with resentment. She stepped forward, feigning concern.“Alice, if you are “Sweet Lemon,” that’s wonderful!”
Alice raised an eyebrow.“Oh yeah?”
Team will win the finals! Right,
“Yes! You’re so amazing! Landing Team will win
Luke?”
Luke looked uncomfortable. He wanted Alice back on the team! He coughed. “I don’t mind.” Alice smirked.“I never said I’d participate in the finals!”
Luke’s face stiffened.“What do you mean?”
“Luke, you said I was replaceable. You found a great player; I’m nothing.” Alice reminded him of his words at the mansion. She wasn’t the old Alice. She wouldn’t be manipulated with empty. apologies.
Alice left school. Luke remembered his words. He’d thought he could sign “Sweet Lemon.” That’s why he spoke that way! But now, he suspected it was Alice. His worst fear had come true.
Chloe said pointedly, Luke, I think ‘Sweet Lemon‘ is Alice. The voices are identical. She didn’t. deny it.”
Luke gritted his teeth. I’m not sure.”
“But Luke, even if it’s good news, she knew it was you trying to sign her. She’s been laughing at you!” Chloe emphasized laughing.”
Luke’s pride was hurt.“I don’t think it’s her! If it was her, she would’ve bragged about it.” Alice hadn’t admitted it, so it wasn’t her!
Chloe sighed in relief.“I think so too.” Alice hadn’t directly admitted it, proving she was guilty! Sweet Lemon” definitely wasn’t her!
Alice took a cab to the hospital. Luke hadn’t told her where Noah was, but she knew. She found his room. She hesitated before approaching. The door opened; the butler was surprised.
“Miss Alice, you finally came!”
Alice saw Noah wasn’t there. The butler said coldly, “He went for treatment. The doctor said he had a heart issue from stress. Come with me.”
Alice hesitated before following. She saw Noah lying down, Chloe beside him, looking harmonious.
“Miss Chloe has been here, taking care of him. You didn’t even ask. Noah being kind to Miss Chloe is only natural, isn’t it?”
Alice lowered her eyes, self–deprecating. “He’s okay, that’s all that matters.” She left. She shouldn’t have come. The butler was right; Chloe was there. Noah had liked Chloe’s congee last time, hadn’t he?
Noah returned to the room after his checkup. He saw discarded flowers by the door. “Who came by?”

The butler calmly replied, “Unimportant people. I sent them away.”
Chloe brought a food container.“Noah, try my medicinal porridge. It’s much better!” Noah tasted it.“Yes, it is. Thank you, Chloe.” But he thought of Alice’s porridge. He’d always enjoyed Alice’s care. He’d taken. it for granted and ignored her efforts. Chloe said, “Noah, Alice’s livestreaming.”
“She’s livestreaming to earn money?” Noah felt a pang of guilt. Alice shouldn’t need a part–time job. Livestreaming was a messy business.
Chloe nodded.“Yes, but she’s on Shrimp Live, Luke’s competitor. He’ll be furious.”
Noah’s tone Was indifferent.“Good! He deserves it for making Alice leave!”
Chloe was surprised. She’d thought Noah would condemn Alice, forcing her to quit! That was her plan. But Noah didn’t react as she’d expected.
Chloe continued, “But Noah, Alice livestreaming on Shrimp Live is slapping our family in the face. If we could make her quit…”
Noah interrupted. “It’s her choice.”
“But…” Seeing his expression, Chloe stopped. She was scared; Noah had really changed. She’d worked so hard to maintain her position, yet Alice achieved the same effortlessly. Luke’s words hit Chloe like a bucket of cold water; she was never truly part of the family. She had to plan for herself.
Alice returned to the apartment. The housekeeper had prepared a meal–just one serving. Jack and Garrett weren’t there.
After dinner, she logged into the game to repair her equipment. She had battles tonight. She received a message from Luke.
[Who are you?]
Alice knew she couldn’t hide it much longer, but she didn’t need to explain. Ignoring him, she went to farm. Because of her livestream, many people knew her ID and invited her to parties. She chose one.
Seeing a familiar ID join, she realized it was Luke.
Luke’s voice echoed in the team channel, “You have time to farm but not to answer my messages?” His tone was accusatory.
