Caroline spoke slowly, emphasizing every word. “I will never forgive them.”

Did they really think returning the money would erase everything? What a joke.

If they were so sincere, why not return the five billion dollars from the Ellison family’s dowry too? Hah. They’d never part with that. This fake act of remorse was nothing but disgusting.
Caroline handed the box to Paul. “Send it back to the Brooks family. Tell them this isn’t something that can be settled just by giving the money back.”

“Fine, if my words mean nothing and I can’t get anyone to listen to me,” Caroline took a deep breath, “then I’ll return it myself!”
She turned and headed for the door.
Just as she was about to step out, David’s voice rang out.
“I already promised Elizabeth that I wouldn’t pursue the past anymore.”
Caroline froze in place.
“There’s no point in going to argue with the Brooks family,” David said. “Since they’ve realized their mistake, why not give them a chance? How long do you want this cycle of revenge to continue?”
She laughed.
