“You’re having a child with Elizabeth–why insist on keeping me here?”
David replied, “Watching you suffer is reason enough.”
Caroline’s eyes turned red at the corners.
So this was his so–called love–so cold and heartless.
When he wanted to be good to her, he was. When he didn’t, she was nothing.
It was right for her to never accept this kind of love.
“Good thing I never lost my mind and fully trusted you,” Caroline said. “I should be grateful that Elizabeth found out about her pregnancy in time. If it had been any later, if I had truly believed in you and given myself to you completely, I would be suffering a hundred times more than I am now.”
