Without another word, David shoved Caroline aside and strode toward the door.
Just as he reached it, something occurred to him. “Caroline, come with me!”
There was no way she could stay out of this.
Since she wanted Elizabeth to have this child, then she should witness firsthand how he protected Elizabeth,

Samantha stood at the door, blocking anyone from entering. “Stay back! Don’t provoke her! Let me, her mother, talk to her first…”
As she spoke, she quickly shut the door and locked it.
The moment the lock clicked, Elizabeth hopped down from the windowsill, patting her chest frantically. “That was terrifying! So high up… mom, do you really think this will work? Will Mr. Ellison change his mind and let me keep this baby?”
“Whether it works or not, we’ll only know if we try. If you don’t try, then it definitely won’t.”
“But Mr. Ellison seemed very firm in his decision…”
Samantha replied, “No matter what, the child is his. Do you really think he’d be heartless enough to abandon his own flesh and blood? Besides, you said it yourself–when you first got to the hospital, Mr. Ellison was still gentle with you, even feeling guilty.”
