“I have a suggestion,” Caroline said with a smile. “Let’s all raise a toast to Mr. Ellison, congratulating him. celebrating him. Wishing him a harmonious love life, lasting happiness, and, of course, a child soon,”
Her voice rang clearly through the venue.
But no one dared to respond.
David had indeed brought a female companion, but he was a married man.
That left Mrs. Ellison in an awkward position, while Caroline openly mocked David for being fickle, surrounded by women, and a notorious playboy.
She must have had nerves of steel. Just moments ago, David had humiliated her by pouring wine over her, yet now she was standing here, throwing veiled barbs at him.
Caroline didn’t care how others reacted. She picked up a bottle of champagne and handed it to David. “Mr. Ellison, please open the champagne.”
David’s gaze darkened.
But without hesitation, he popped the cork. The champagne foamed over, and the room erupted in applause.
Yet, the atmosphere felt strangely tense.
David took the first glass from the tower, tilted his head back, and drained it in one go.
“I accept your blessing, Caroline,” he said in a low voice, meant only for her ears. “Let’s hope your words.

“You’re welcome, Mr. Ellison.”
Caroline raised her own glass and even tilted it toward Elizabeth. “Congratulations.”
Elizabeth clenched her teeth but couldn’t afford to lose composure.
On the surface, Caroline was acknowledging her presence. In reality, she was telling everyone that Elizabeth was nothing more than David’s mistress.
David finished his drink and left without a backward glance, his posture cold and distant.
Elizabeth hurried after him.
Watching them disappear, Caroline finally exhaled in relief.
The b*stard and b*tch are gone at last.
As the adrenaline faded, so did her strength. The energy she had just moments ago drained from her body. leaving her pale and exhausted. Taking advantage of the moment when no one was looking, she quietly slipped away.
Only she knew how tired she was, how much strength it took to endure.

A message from Caroline. “Anna. I’m already home. Everything is fine.”
Anna stared at the words, her eyes slowly reddening.
At the hotel entrance, David stepped out. The driver immediately opened the car door with respect. “Mr. Ellison, please.”
He slid into the back seat, his expression unreadable,
Dim street lights cast shadows over his face, making him seem even more somber.
“Mr. Ellison, Caroline was completely out of line, Elizabeth huffed from beside him. “Mocking our relationship in front of everyone… how will you maintain authority at the company now?”
David remained silent.
Elizabeth pressed on. “I can take whatever she says about me. But her attitude toward you… Mr. Ellison, she clearly doesn’t respect you at all.”
She clung to his arm, gently swaying it, before leaning in closer.
The car moved forward smoothly. David stared out of the window, his expression unreadable.
After a long silence, he suddenly spoke. “Your phone.”
“What?” Elizabeth blinked, confused.
David repeated, “Give me your phone.”
