Chapter 332 David’s Embrace Feels Dirty
David turned to look at her, his gaze slowly trailing over her.
It was full of possessive. A faint smirk played at his lips before he lay down on
the bed.
Caroline immediately decided to sleep in the guest room.
But before she could even lift her foot, David’s lazy voice rang out.

“Come here.”
His tone was calm, yet undeniably commanding.
It instantly reminded her of that moment in the bathroom–when he had held her, his voice thick with tears and grief.
Now, he was completely different.
How many sides did David have?
Cold and ruthless. Deeply affectionate. Cruel and bloodthirsty.
All of them were him.
“Are you deaf?” David spoke again. “Are you coming over yourself, or do I have to carry you?”
Caroline sighed in resignation and lay down on the bed
But she made sure to keep as much distance as possible stretching herself so close to the edge that half of her body was practically hanging off.
It was useless.
David reached out, his long arm pulling her straight into his embrace.
His hand rested firmly on her waist, his head buried against her neck, his chest pressed against her back. His breathing slowed… evened out.
“You… plan to hold me like this all night?”
“Yeah.”
“David-”
“Shh.” He pressed a finger against her lips. “Sleep. Stop talking so much.”
Caroline didn’t dare move. Not that she had a choice. She could only lie stiffly in his arms.
the fact that
There was no way she could sleep. The thought of David holding Elizabeth the same way, they even had a child together…
It was like a needle piercing her heart.

She tried to pry his hand off, but he only tightened his grip, his voice laced with impatience. “Are you sleeping or not?”
She stayed silent.
Fine. At least he is just holding me. If he isn’t sleeping… who knew what else he might try to do?
Caroline sighed. “Fine. I’ll sleep.”
David truly fell asleep quickly, his breathing steady.
He was a man burdened with endless responsibilities. His mind was always occupied, making it difficult for him to sleep. Even when he did, it was always light–easily disturbed.
But as long as he held Caroline, as long as she was beside him, he never had trouble sleeping.
And tonight…
Tonight had been a storm of emotions–overwhelming highs and crushing lows. He was utterly drained.
Caroline was still alive. Still in his arms. Still bickering with him, resisting him…
Everything was just as it had always been. That was enough to bring him peace.
And after more than a month of sleeping apart, he had missed her.
Not that he would ever say it out loud. Love, to him, was something to be endured.
The next morning, when Caroline woke up, the space beside her was empty.
It almost felt like a dream.
A dream that had ended with the sunrise–back to reality.
She went to freshen up, but the moment she opened the cabinet…
Every single colored item was gone.
No bath bombs, no essential oils–every bottle and jar had disappeared without a trace.
David had ordered the servants to remove them.
“Seriously… once bitten, twice shy.”
Caroline shook her head. Whatever.
She wouldn’t be using essential oils in the bathtub again anyway. That joke wasn’t worth making twice.
She headed downstairs, but David was nowhere to be seen.
“Ma’am,” Paul informed her, “Mr. Ellison left early this morning. He didn’t even have breakfast.”
