“You mean to tell me David treats you like this, and you’re just going to take it? Don’t you want to go to the Ellison mansion and have grandpa step in for you? Madam Harper is quite fond of you. She’s on your side. Why are you still putting up with this?”
As Andrew spoke, he leaned in closer and closer. “If I were you, I would-”
“Mr. Ellison!” Caroline abruptly took a big step back, her voice sharp. “We’re at work. Please mind your behavior!”
Her disgust toward Andrew ran deep–so deep it made her physically sick.
She would never forget how, when she first married into the Ellison family, Andrew had nearly violated her.
“Oh? Getting bold with me now, are we?” Andrew sneered. “Caroline, do you really think you’re someone important? Let me remind you–you can be kicked out of the Ellison family at any time, but I’ll always be a part of the Ellison family.”
He didn’t bother pretending anymore. His true colors showed.
After all, Caroline was an easy target. No background, no family to support her, and most importantly- David didn’t love her.
Caroline lifted her chin slightly, her gaze sharp as she stared him down.
“What’s with that look?” Andrew smirked. “You almost look like my dear brother for a second there. Being around him for so long… have you learned to imitate his authority? But what good does that do you? Caroline, do you even know your place? Maybe you should take a long, hard look in the mirror. You’re just a disposable decoy bride, yet you dare glare at me like this? Who do you think you are? Let me warn you, Caroline, when you see me at the company, you’d better behave. Show some respect. Otherwise… don’t blame me if I make your life difficult. Did you hear me?
Caroline simply continued staring at him, silent.
Andrew’s irritation grew. It was like punching a pillow–no resistance, no reaction.
“Hey! Did you lose your voice or something? You’re usually so sharp–tongued, always ready to claw at people. What’s with the silence now? Are you scared of me?”
Only then did Caroline speak. “Why would I respond to barking?”
“You–did you just call me a dog?”
“Oh, my mistake.” Caroline’s voice was laced with mock apology. “Dogs are adorable. Loyal. You’re not even worthy of being called a dog.”
She rarely spoke, but when she did, she made sure to infuriate him.
“Alright, Caroline. You think you’re so tough? Let’s see how tough you are!”
As he spoke, Andrew rolled up his sleeves, raising his hand high-

A cold, familiar voice rang out behind him.
“Try touching her. See what happens.”
Andrew froze.
His entire body went stiff, his face turning ghostly pale
David? When has he gotten here? How long has he been watching?

Before Andrew could even process what was happening before he could greet David, a heavy kick landed on the back of his knee.
“Ah!”
He lost his balance instantly, collapsing forward–falling straight at Caroline’s feet.
Caroline didn’t even blink. She merely watched, her expression indifferent.
David walked over, his every step elegant and unhurried. Stopping before Andrew, he leaned down slightly.
“Andrew,” his voice was calm, almost casual, “what were you just saying? Repeat it for me.”
“I–I…”
Andrew stammered, panic flooding his face.
“You said you were going to my wife a lesson, didn’t you?” David’s voice remained cool. “I don’t think I misheard.”
“N–no, David, I–I didn’t mean that… You must have misunderstood.”
“Is that so?”
