Chapter 40
Sebastian woke up with a fever that morning, but after taking the medication and resting for the better half of the day, his health was restored. He washed his face and went down at dinner but Sia intercepted his journey to the dining room by blocking his path. She tutted
“Sebastian.”
“Hmm?”
“Don’t you have anything to say to me?”
“Do I?” His confusion only increased.
“Think about it yourself. I’m not giving you a hint.”
Sebastian blinked, then, his face slowly relaxed in understanding. He cleared his throat. “Thank you for taking care of me when I was sick. And sorry for coming back late last night, it won’t happen again I promise.”
Sebastian said, walking up to her. He finished speaking and placed a short kiss on her lips.
“I… I didn’t ask you to do this!” Sia flushed.
“Too short for your liking?” Sebastian wrapped his arms around Sia’s waist burying his head in the
crook of her neck.
“Let me go, Sebastian! We’re in public, what if Mr. Greg was around.” She struggled to get out of his
hold but it was all in vain.
“Forget it, I won’t make guesses next time.” Sia said, then suddenly recalled the pink diamond on her
finger.
“How would you explain this? Yesterday at Vivienne’s party, the CEO of D.E group saw my ring and
offered to buy it for one billion.”
“Did he? Perhaps he mistook it for something else. It isn’t worth much.” Sebastian lied afraid of how Sia might reacted when he told her the actual price.
“Not worth much? How much is it worth then?
“One.. million.” Sebastian answered tentatively.

Chapter 40
“One… Did I just hear wrong? Did you just call a whole million dollars worthless? Are you out of your mind or am I going crazy?!”
“You deserve all the best things, kitten. It still hurts me for not giving you the best engagement party.” Sebastian ran his hand through her silky long hair.
Sia went silent at his words, deeply thinking about life.
She, Anastasia Blackwood, grew up only having Rosalind’s leftovers. All her toys, clothes and items were hand downs of what Rose discarded aside. But now, Sebastian just told her she deserved only
the finest things.
Taking advantage of Sia’s silence, Sebastian slid the ring back on her finger again.
“You are not allowed to take off the ring without my permission ever again.”
“Only the gods know what the future holds for me.” Sia said dejectedly.
“What do you mean?”
“I’m sure I must have used up all my good luck by meeting you, so only bad luck awaits me in the
- e. But one thing I’m sure of is that I don’t i
regret it.”
“Bullshit. You’ll always be lucky Sia. Forget about this, aren’t you hungry yet? Cause I know I am.”
“I’m hungry too. You have no idea what Chef Liam made today. Sweet and sour pork ribs! It’s so
yummy…
Sebastian returned to his study after dinner while Sia went to play with her puppy. That was when she realized something important…
Chubbles did not have toys.
“This won’t do. Chubbles, let’s go ask Daddy to buy you some toys.”
Sia pushed open the door to Sebastian’s study without knocking and exclaimed in a small voice shuffling on her knees mimicking a toddler.
“Chubbles is bored Daddy. Chubbles wants to play fetch with a ball of yarn!”
Sebastian froze in his seat. He was in the middle of a virtual international conference with over at The boss was speaking to someone,
hundred people, each of which sat up straight with wide eyes
no one dared to utter a word. And the voice belongs to a female!
“Daddy, are you ignoring Chubbles? Is Chubbles not cute enough?”
Sia was carried away with her act, not knowing her mortifying act was broadcast to everyone in Sebastian’s meeting.
“This meeting is adjourned and will carry on at nine o’clock tomorrow.”
Sebastian switched off his laptop as soon as he passed out the information and got up from his seat.
“Meeting, what meeting?” Sia dropped her act, standing up to her full height.
“Nothing important. Let’s go buy some toys for my daughter.”
‘Really! That’s so kind of you Sebastian! But Chubbles isn’t a girl. He’s a boy.”
Sia held Sebastian’s hand intimately as they exited the study with Chubbles tagging along. Not knowing that at that moment, Chubbles had become a legendary figure in the entire D.E group.
The two of them walked down the street hand in hand like a normal couple.
They entered a pet shop, and as soon as Chubbles saw the different toys on display, it barked,
wiggling its tail excitedly.
Sia followed behind the dog, picking up whatever it stood in front of and barked. And in less than ten minutes, their cart was filled to the brim with several pet toys.
“Papa Chubbles, it’s time to settle the bill.”
“You know I don’t want you calling me that. I only reluctantly accept it. If you want me to pay, you know what to call me, don’t you, kitten?” Sebastian whispered in Sia’s ear.
“It’s time to settle the bills please, husband.”
Sebastian broke into a wicked smile as he handed over his black to the cashier.
All the shopping and walking had made Sia hungry. Her eyes lit up when she saw a cart across the road selling candied fruits, and judging by the long queue in front of the shop, it was delicious. Her mouth watered just thinking about its taste.
“Sebastian, look. Chubbles and I both want to eat some candied fruit.”
“Woof!” The dog readily agreed, bouncing up and down.
“Too much sweets is not good for you, kitten.”
Chapter 40
“Aww come on. Just this once. I don’t even eat sweets that much. I bet it’s not that harmful when that amount of people are lining up to buy. Pretty please? I’ve never eaten candied fruit before.” Sebastian watched as Sia swallowed another mouthful of saliva, her eyes glued to the stall.
“You are only allowed to eat one. Wait here, I’ll buy it for you.”
Sebastian shook his head helplessly and then went over to the candied fruit truck and joined the
queue.
“Your daddy’s figure would really put lots of male supermodels to shame, Chubbles.” Sia sighed admiring Sebastian’s broad back, when a warm voice sounded from her back.
“Anastasia Blackwood?” The voice said Sia starting her, she spun around to meet the owner of the
voice.
A handsome man with light brown hair and chocolate eyes stood right behind her smiling at her. His face was familiar, but Sia couldn’t remember where she had seen him before.
“It’s really you! I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me.” He chucked, stepping forward to pat her shoulders but Sia avoided his hands.
“Excuse me, but who a
but who are you?”
“It’s Jake. Jake Hunter, forgot me already?”
“Jake..The little fat kid that sat behind me in grade 7?” Sia said, racking her brain, but Jake nodded his head enthusiastically.
“Wow.. the years did justice to you. You’ve changed so much. How did you shed off the weight?”
Realizing they were acquaintances, Sia gradually relaxed, smiling back at him.
“I know, right? It’s been so long since we’ve seen each other. Is this your dog? It’s so cute!”
