Chapter 34
After dinner, Sebastian retired to the living room reading the newspaper on the sofa while Sia laid on her stomach watching k–dramas. She switched the channel looking for something interesting she saw Nathan interviewed on a news channel.
He was wearing a dark shade to cover up his black eye he had suffered from Sebastian in the coffee
shop.
“Mr. Sinclair, the rumors about you and Blackwood’s eldest daughter, Ms Rosalind Blackwood, getting married has spread like wildfire. Your fans are excited, can you give us a specific date?”
“Rosalind is not feeling well as we’re speaking, but the wedding is already on the agenda. When that
time comes, we will let you know.”
Sebastian put down his newspaper when heard Nathan’s voice. The atmosphere in the living room turned awkward. Sia cleared her throat and tried to lighten the mood.
“Sebastian, does Nathan still trouble you?”
Sia had regretted a lot of the things she tolerated when she was with Nathan. Every last bit of feelings she had for him had long vanished. Even when Sebastian was beating the living daylights out of him the last time, her only concern had been Sebastian.
“There’s nothing he can do to me, Kitten, you worry too much.”
“That’s relieving. So, when are we going to your family house?”
“That would have to wait for a while now. I don’t want to have to explain what happened to my leg
to everyone I meet.”
Sebastian briefly explained how complicated his family was. Not everyone was as they appear to be.
“Which reminds me,” Sebastian changed the subject. “You said you had a surprise for me last time.
What is it?”
“Right. Wait here, I’ll be back.”
Sia got up from her seat with a wink and trotted upstairs to get the gift. She returned down a minute later hiding her hands behind her.
Tada! This is for you.”

Sia said with a light blush revealing a wrapped box and handling it to Sebastian who took it with an unreasonable expression. He opened the little black box that contained the gold tipped pen with a sleek black case, studying it closely.
“You’re not allowed to dislike the gift. It’s the very first thing I bought with my salary.”
“What are you doing to me, Sla?”
“Huh? What do you mean?” Sia was confused by his words. She leaned down to peer inside the box, thinking maybe something was wrong. But Sebastian pulled into a hug instead, and she fell onto his lap.
Mr. Greg, standing by the side, turned his head the other way, giving them a much needed privacy.
“First, you mess with my emotions. You try to seduce me, make me all worked up and jealous for no reason to the point of embarrassing myself, now you’re giving me gifts?”
“Do you like the gift? Tell me it’s the best gift you’ve ever received.”
“Mmm. I’ll cherish it as my good luck pen and use it only for things important to me, but it’s not the best gift I’ve received so far.”
Sia was simply joking when she said that, but he could at least play along to make her happy. Her smile faltered thinking of what she had to do to please him.
“The best gift I’ve ever received is you, Anastasia.” Sebastian whispered sincerely.
“Really,” Sia beamed. “Then you have to cherish her for the rest of your life. Make sure you don’t lose
her.”
Sia said, peering down at Sebastian. When they first met, the scar on his face looked scary to her, but now, she recognized it as the mark that kept her safe.
The wind blew through the opened window, carrying with a soft bark of a dog, drawing Sia’s attention to the window.
“Is there something outside?”
“I’ll go take a look.” Mr. Greg cleared his throat, looking for an excuse to leave. He returned two minutes later cradling a brown dog.
“It’s a little stray puppy, Ms Anastasia.”
“Oh my god! It is so cute!”

Sia skimped out of Sebastian’s laps over to Mr. Greg, gushing about the cute little dog-
Sebastian’s mood soured again. He muttered a curse under his breath. “Every damn time.” He felt an immediate dislike towards the evil animal for appearing and ruining his moment.
“It’s a stray and filthy. Take it to the pet shelter.”
“Come on Bastie, look at it! It’s still young, won’t it be bullied by the big bad dogs? Let’s keep him, please.” Sia put on her puppy eyes but Sebastian wasn’t looking. He won’t fall for the trick twice.
“But Ms Anastasia, Mr Sebastian is obsessed with cleanliness…” Mr. Greg started, but Sia dismissed
his concerns.
“I’ll be responsible for cleaning him up every day. We’ll keep it right, Sebastian? Let’s keep it.”
Sia knew this worked. She tried to convince him by acting cute.
“You had a hard time bathing me, yet you’re eager to bathe a dog?
“It was an accident, I’ll do better next time. And the puppy isn’t as big as you are, it wouldn’t be
hard…”
“Woof.” Little barked at Sia’s words, as if agreeing with her as well.
“Hmm. Call me husband and I’ll let you keep it.” Sebastian said with a straight face. How can he say cheesy stuff like that with a straight face!
Sia’s face flushed red as she glanced at Mr. Greg from the corners of her eye.
“Husband, may I keep it please?”
