“You said Alice wrote the code?” Ethan was stunned. ‘I… I didn’t know.” And Alice was so young?
Luke said, “Brother, I mentioned it before, but you forgot. Alice silently contributed a lot, but we ignored her.” He realized how wrong he’d been.
Ethan stammered, “I thought you wrote it; she just helped.” He’d assumed Luke was making excuses for Alice. He hadn’t expected it to be true.
His secretary urged, “Boss, the tech department is helpless. What do we do? If this leaks, the company is in big trouble!”
“What are the tech guys doing? They can’t even match a girl? Ethan’s pride wouldn’t let him back. down. He glared at Alice.“What are you doing? You’re retaliating because I forgot you wrote the code?” It was just a forgotten detail; was it so important? Alice was family; contributing was expected.
“Yes,” Alice readily admitted, her gaze cold.“Brother, you have bigger problems now. Fix this before all your secrets leak.”
“Alice, how dare you? You ate, drank, and lived off Lu Corp.’s money. You’re trying to sabotage the company?! Don’t you have a conscience?!”
Alice stood at the doorway, cold. “First, our parents left each of us a trust fund. My education expenses came from there.”
“Fine! But your living expenses for all these years–your food, clothing, and shelter–came from Lu Corp! We gave you expensive gifts on birthdays!”
“You forgot? After our parents died, I stopped celebrating birthdays. You bought expensive gifts for Chloe, not me.”

Alice seemed to remember the accident. She stumbled, leaning against the door, a sharp pain in her chest. She couldn’t remember what happened that day.
Ethan ripped off his jacket.“You think we favor Chloe, but we took her in for you, to repay a debt! You killed Mom and Dad, and Chloe’s father! If you want to leave, fine!”

Luke, left outside, felt a sharp pain in his stomach, but nothing compared to the pain in his heart. Luke rushed out. “Brother Two, Brother left, saying something happened at the company. Is Alice okay?!”
“She’s fine. Let’s go.” Luke wiped the blood from his mouth.

“Maybe distance is best. We wronged her; we shouldn’t disturb her new life.” He hit his head in frustration.“If I could turn back time…”
