Chapter 150
Alice’s eyes were cold. She would make the culprits pay. Jack had almost died because of her. If the car hadn’t been modified, he might not have survived. “Little Lemon, let’s discuss this after you’re better. Alice changed the subject. Can you take me to see Jack?”
“I’ll check first.”
Luke returned.“Let’s go. Can you manage?”
“I’m fine.”
better. Revenge requires patience.”
They went to Jack’s room. Seeing him in intensive care, her eyes filled with tears. “You said he was fine!”
“He’s fine, just a more severe concussion than yours. His family is worried, so he’s in ICU.
Alice watched him for a while. I’ll see him when he wakes up.” She remembered him swerving the car to protect her. Otherwise, she would have been far more seriously injured.
Luke sighed.“Let’s go. Rest. Jack will probably wake up later.”
“Okay.”
As they left the elevator, a beautiful woman emerged- Julia Garcia. She looked surprised to see Luke.“Luke, you’re here too. And this is…?”
Luke’s face paled. This was bad luck. He coughed.“She’s… a friend.”
Alice glanced at the woman, a brief exchange of glances. Something felt wrong.
In the elevator, Alice asked, “Who was that?”
“A friend.” Luke was relieved to leave the situation to Jack.
Alice didn’t press further, but she found the woman’s voice familiar. She couldn’t place it-
Back in her room, she received a message from Chloe:[The club tryouts are today. Why weren’t you there?]
She remembered! She replied:[I’m sick.
sick. In the hospital. Couldn’t
Couldn’t make it.]
Exposing Chloe had been disrupted. If the Garcia family hadn’t intervened, Chloe would have been caught. But she’d have her revenge later.
Alice thought, “Will Max be punished?”
“Probably. The bullying videos.
The bullying videos and photos are online. Did you do that?” “Yes. I didn’t believe the Garcia family could cover everything up.” Alice didn’t deny it; Luke already knew who she was.
“Little Lemon, you’re quite resourceful! You’re good with AI, but you’re also skilled in other
areas.
Alice blushed. “You taught me a lot. I was young, and you were the only ones who helped me.” She hadn’t expected Jack to be J.
Luke sighed. Their paths had crossed so long ago.
“Be careful around the Garcia family. Max will be punished.” Jack had made sure of that. Nothing
could change it.
“I know.”
Later, Alice checked for updates on Max. The news
remained. The Garcia family claimed Max’s acco “as suppressed, but the videos and photos
had been hacked, the photos were fake. Alice hacked into Max’s phone again, but it was wiped clean. The Garcia family had destroyed the phone. She would wait for Max’s punishment. If it didn’t happen, she would handle it
herself.
That night, Alice couldn’t sleep. She kept remembering the car accident–Jack swerving to protect her. He could have died.
She got up
and went to see Jack. Seeing his pale face, she felt sad. He must have lost a lot of blood. She held his hand; it was cold.
people
She whispered, “Jack, get better soon. It’s my fault for involving you. You can’t win against these rich people. I’m sorry!” She placed his hand. On her cheek. Jack, wake up.” “Crying at my bedside in the middle of the night? You’d think I was a vegetable.”
Alice froze, seeing him awake, a smile in his eyes. She blushed, withdrawing her hand. “You’re awake! Anything hurt?”
“No.”
“But you were unconscious.”
“I was exhausted. I fell asleep.”
Seeing him okay, she relaxed.“I’m relieved you’re awake.”
You have a cut on your forehead?” He saw the bandage. Alice shook her head.“It’s minor. Compared to yours…”
“Scars on a girl’s forehead aren’t pretty.”
Alice’s breath hitched. “Why did you swerve? You didn’t have to get hurt so badly.”
They looked at each other, silent. She couldn’t sleep, but seeing him awake, she didn’t know what
to say.
Jack’s eyes were clear. “Because I didn’t want you to get hurt.” He wouldn’t let her get hurt again.
Alice looked down, flustered. I’m relieved you’re awake. Rest.”
Lying in bed, she thought of Jack, the accident, and another car accident, long ago–fragments of a memory. She was trapped in a car, and Jack had saved her.
Waking up, she had tears in her eyes. She hadn’t dreamt of that accident in a long time. Maybe it was triggered by this one. She’d seen Jack in the dream–a merging of memories.
Her phone rang. “Hello?”
“Alice, which hospital are you in? Jack wants to see you.”
“I’m fine. Don’t bother.”
“You said this isn’t over. Do you have more evidence?” Luke also wanted to see it. Alice smiled coldly. “Yes.”
