“You should know the Windhams are nothing compared to the Garcias. Max’s sister is engaged to the King of Washington! Do you think the Windhams can afford to offend the Garcias?”

Alice scoffed.“I don’t believe in powerful backing. Bring it on!” She hung up. The Windham family’s fate was none of her concern.
She looked at the invitation and left the dorm.
The esports club’s event was extravagant–a
red carpet and
signing table.
“Alice, you’re injured?” Daniel, the Bubble team manager, appeared.
She smiled.“A minor accident.”
“I heard you failed the Harvard tryouts. That’s surprising.”
“I missed the tryouts due to the accident. I didn’t fail.” Daniel’s eyes lit up. “You should consider joining the Bubble team. I won’t stop you from going to the national team.”

Alice entered the hall, hearing Chloe’s voice. “Alice, you’re shameless, coming here!”

“I can be here, but not you. This event is for influencers. Only club members are allowed.”
Jason arrived.“Alice, you should’ve thought about this before.

Daniel arrived. “Ms. Alice, everyone’s waiting for you.”
Alice said calmly, “Someone questioned my invitation.”
Daniel glared at Jason.“Are you crazy? Who would fake an invitation? We all know each other!” “Mr. Zhao, I was just ensuring the event’s integrity. Alice isn’t a club member, let alone an influencer! She shouldn’t be here!”
Jason, hoping to impress Daniel, was obsequious. He wanted to join the Bubble team.
Daniel yelled, “Who says she isn’t an influencer?!”
Jason was stunned. Could Alice be a newly famous influencer? Wasn’t she poor? Daniel continued yelling at

Chloe defended Jason. “Who is Alice, anyway?”
Jason yelled at Chloe. Daniel was not someone to offend.

Daniel gestured to Alice. “Let’s go. Some people are blind.”
Alice looked at Jason.“Didn’t you say you’d eat shit if my invitation was real? Your turn.” Jason’s face was worse than if he’d been eating shit. He hadn’t expected her to press him.
Chloe said, “Alice, don’t be so mean. He was just joking.”
“Mean? You two were aggressive and tried to get me kicked out! You’re so hypocritical! You can treat others this way, but not vice versa!”
