The assistant stared at the person in front of him for a long time before finally responding and turning to leave, just as he bumped into Olivia, who was standing at the door.
“Ma’am.” The assistant quickly called out to Olivia, finally drawing the man’s attention from the desk.
Julian’s expression shifted slightly as he picked up a blanket from the back of a nearby chair and walked toward Olivia.
“You’re awake? Are you cold? Did the baby bother you?” He draped the blanket around her shoulders, warming her hands.
Olivia smiled at the corner of her eye, but her voice held concern.“I couldn’t sleep without you, so I came to see you. I just happened to hear you talking to the assistant about Jane. How could she go abroad? Is it because of me…”
By the end of her sentence, Olivia’s eyes turned red, and she lowered her head in guilt.
Startled, Julian quickly embraced her, kissing her hair. “How could it be because of you? It’s just a childish tantrum. Don’t worry about her.”
But Olivia remained uneasy, clinging to his arm, looking into his eyes.“But Jane was entrusted to your care. What if something happens to her?”
Julian gently wiped away her tears, his voice hardening.“If something happens, so be it; consider it a lesson for her.”
“Better than her running around all the time.”

quickly lowered her head, leaning against his chest, a cruel smile blooming at the corners of her mouth.
Jane, I hope you never come back.
Julian claimed not to care, but behind the scenes, he was still
sending people to search for my whereabouts.
Yet every time he asked if they had found me, the answer was still no.
The first week, Julian received the same answer: no.
The first month, the answer remained no.
After the assistant cautiously delivered the news, Julian’s body
stiffened in the office chair.
After a long silence, he waved for the assistant to continue
searching.
Once the door closed, Julian leaned back, exhausted. He reached
up and helplessly pinched the bridge of his nose.
He’d naively thought I had gone abroad just to throw a fit over him marrying Olivia. But after all this time, my whereabouts were still a mystery.
In a daze, he suddenly recalled how I had repeatedly told him I
didn’t like him.
Even the time I told his mother I wanted to stay far away from him came rushing back.
Back then, he’d thought I loved him so much that I would never leave him, so he dismissed my words as a game of hard to get.
Only now did he realize he’d been wrong.
Julian looked down at the desk, where a corner was supposed to

But since I had confessed my feelings, that picture had been tossed in the trash, replaced by a wedding photo of him and
Olivia.
Julian glanced around; this office used to be filled with traces of
- me.
Now, it was as if I had vanished, just like I had.
He stared at the corner for a long time before finally picking up
his phone to call my aunt.
After all, I was entrusted to her care by my father before he passed; if something happened to me, she should be held
accountable.
But when the call connected, before he could say a word, a cold
female voice came through:“Sorry, the number you dialed is no longer in service…”
“Buzz!”
Julian’s mind went blank, a wave of bad premonition spreading rapidly from his heart!
His hand holding the phone stiffened for a moment before it finally dropped. After my parents passed away, he had a decent relationship with my aunt.
How could this be?
How could she block him?
Julian racked his brain for a reason but couldn’t come up with
anything.
Just then, the departing assistant suddenly returned, carrying a

“Mr. Parker, a package for you. The delivery man said you had to open it personally.”
Julian stared at the box. As his fingers brushed against the rope, his heart pounded. He felt that if he opened this box, he would plunge into an endless abyss.
He hesitated for a moment, then finally loosened his clenched hand and slowly untied the rope on the box.
The moment he saw what was inside, his eyes widened in
shock!
