Ignoring the inexplicable emotion, Julian flew to England, to the Smith estate. He was itching to see me, wanting to apologize in person for all the wrongs he had done in the past, hoping I could find it in my heart to forgive him.
But he spent two weeks in England without even stepping foot into the Smith household. When he saw the servants looking at him like he was some kind of enemy, he figured out the reason
pretty quickly.
Left with no choice, Julian had to wait outside for me. Finally, today, he spotted me. His eyes lit up with joy, and he flung open the car door, ready to come over and say my name, but then he
froze.
The moment I got out of the car, this tall figure followed me, wrapping me up in a way that screamed intimacy!
“BANG!” Julian’s gift box hit the ground. A surge of anger
consumed him.
“Jane!”
I stiffened at the sound of that familiar voice. A deep–seated fear, ingrained in my bones, spread through me. That voice was all too familiar. He used it whenever I’d hurt his beloved Olivia.
Noticing my tremor, William’s eyes flashed with coldness. He gently patted my back, ushering me back into the car. Before closing the door, he squeezed my hand.“Don’t worry, I’ve got
this.”
The moment the door closed, William’s cold demeanor was fully revealed. He spun around and punched Julian in the face.

In the past, Julian would have dodged that punch without breaking a sweat. But now, due to everything that had happened, he was in no shape to react. He could only watch as William knocked him to the ground, unable to get back up.
In the pouring rain, William, under an umbrella provided by a Smith family’s butler, looked down at the man sprawled on the ground with an expressionless gaze that felt like a silent provocation. It pierced Julian’s heart. But the man in front of him didn’t say a word, not even bothering to spare him a glance.
When lightning split the sky, the man closed the umbrella and got into the car. The Maserati smoothly entered the Smith
estate.
“BANG!” The heavy gates closed, separating the two worlds.
I didn’t even want to think about why Julian had come. The
moment I gave up on him, he was no longer my concern. I just wanted to focus on living my life in the present.
William felt the same. Perhaps it was possessiveness, but he
didn’t want his fiancee’s attention focused on another man. We
both tactfully avoided mentioning the incident.
At dinner, William, changed into more casual attire, sat next to me, discussing the wedding date with my aunt. As the bride–to–be, I had no objections, simply listening and occasionally chiming in with my thoughts.
William divided his attention between my aunt and me, peeling shrimp for me, wiping my fingers with a napkin. My ears turned slightly red. Even though he had already taken care of me during our lunch date, I still felt a bit shy.
My aunt had cared for me in the States, but she’d moved to England when I was six. Julian had taken me in, yes, he had

spoiled me. But he also wanted me to be independent, so he rarely helped with these little things unless I was sick. After he started seeing Olivia, my status in the Parker household plummeted.
William was the second man to show me such kindness, treating me like a delicate porcelain doll, careful not to break me. I mean, I was an adult now, and we were in front of my aunt!
I bit my lip and ate the shrimp he’d peeled for me. In return, I poured him a bowl of soup.“Careful, it’s hot,” I reminded him softly as I handed it over.
William paused for a moment, then smiled and said, “Thank
you.”
