Chapter 1
At my wedding, my fake sister deliberately caused trouble, injuring her own leg.
Not only did my fiancé send away the security I had called, but he also personally carried my sister to the
hospital.
Without the groom, and the guests below the stage began gossiping,
In my moment of despair, my fiancé’s older brother suddenly stood up and said he had secretly loved me for many years and would replace my fiancé to marry me.
However, five years into our marriage, I accidentally overheard a conversation between him and the
doctor.
“Mr. Chapman, everything is ready. Once the lady gives birth, we can immediately switch the baby to Miss Vanessa Coleman.”
“But the lady’s due date is a month later, and we’ll need to induce labor, which will severely harm her body. Are you sure about this?”
Lucas Chapman didn’t hesitate for a second.
“Vanessa’s health has always been poor, and after so many years of marriage, she finally managed to get pregnant. If she finds out it’s a stillbirth, she’ll be devastated.”
In the office, Lucas gently stroked the photo in his hand, his expression tinged with melancholy.
“It’s been five years.”
He sighed and lowered his gaze to the photo of the pregnant woman with a visibly rounded belly.
“Vanessa finally got pregnant with his child, but fate is truly cruel–it’s a stillbirth…”
The doctor glanced at him, his eyes filled with complexity.
“Mr. Chapman, are you sure about this?”
“The due dates of Madam and Miss Vanessa are too far apart. If we force labor induction, it could seriously harm Violet’s health, and she may never be able to get pregnant again…”
“Enough!”
Lucas interrupted the doctor with a stern face, his voice turning colder.

“I know her health very well. There won’t be any problems
“We have a lifetime ahead of us. We can have many hidden.
“But Vanessa might not have that chance
The doctor fell silent, choosing his words carefully.
“What if Miss Vanessa finds out?”
“She won’t.”
Lucas’s tone was firm.
“Her husband is my younger brother. While my wife and Vanessa are only sisters in name, they share some resemblance.”
“The child will grow up, and she’ll see traits of them in the child. She won’t be able to tell
The doctor couldn’t help but sigh deeply.
“By the way, will Vanessa’s health be harmed by this?”
He stared deeply at the doctor.
“Her body is already weak. She can’t afford any more harm.”
“Don’t worry,” the doctor shook his head. “Miss Vanessa will not be harmed.”
Hearing this, Lucas nodded with satisfaction.
Before leaving, he once again instructed the doctor:
“I’ll bring her over as soon as possible.”
“Make sure you’re prepared.”
The doctor watched him leave, unable to resist calling out.
“Mr. Chapman!”
Lucas stopped in his tracks and turned to look at him.
“Won’t this be too unfair to your wife?”
The doctor couldn’t hold back his thoughts.

Lucas’s eyes turned sharp.
“This is what she owes Vanessa.”
“If it weren’t for her jealousy back then, pushing Vanessa into the swimming pool, Vanessa wouldn’t have
been left with the illness that now makes it difficult for her to conceive!”
I hid in the shadows, listening to their conversation clearly.
The pregnancy test sheet in my hand had already been crumpled. I hurriedly fled before Lucas came out.
I ran through a series of long corridors, all the way to the end, and finally stopped.
Leaning against the wall, I couldn’t hold back my tears.
“Violet?”
A familiar voice rang out behind me.
Lucas was standing there, looking at me with confusion in his eyes.
“What are you doing here alone?”
He furrowed his brow and walked toward me.
I hurriedly hid the pregnancy test sheet behind my back.
But he had already walked up to me and snatched it away.
“You came alone for your checkup?”
He looked angry.
“What if something had happened on the way? Didn’t we agree that you’d call me?”
I looked up, my eyes still red from crying.
He could tell I had been crying and immediately became anxious.
“Why are you crying? Is something wrong with the baby?”
His anxious look made me want to cry even more.
The more he cared, the more my heart hurt.
He was worried about the baby–was it because he couldn’t switch my baby to Vanessa’s, and Vanessa

would be upset?
Lucas’s frown deepened. He grabbed my wrist, his tone firm.
“You need to be hospitalized today!”
“I’m not going!”
I struggled to break free from his grip, leaving red marks on my wrist.
Lucas said nothing, just looking at me with deep, unreadable eyes.
I stubbornly stared back at him.
After a long standoff, he suddenly smiled and pulled me into his arms.
His voice softened.
“Violet, listen to me.”
“I’ve been busy lately and haven’t been able to take care of you. Please, for my sake, stay in the hospital until the baby is born, okay?”
He spoke the harshest words in the gentlest tone, his arms tightly holding me, not allowing me to refuse.
I had no choice.
After settling me in, Lucas took a phone call and hurriedly left the room.
The door wasn’t fully closed, and I saw that he wasn’t leaving the hospital, but heading upstairs.
Two nurses passed by the door, blocking my view.
The younger nurse’s voice was filled with admiration.
“Wow, Mr. Chapman really pampers his wife. He even booked an entire floor for her to rest during her
pregnancy.”
The head nurse looked around nervously, tapped her on the head, and whispered:
“Don’t say such things.”
“The floor upstairs was booked by Mr. Lucas, but it’s for his brother’s wife.”
“They just have a good family relationship.”

I picked up my phone, opened a blacked–out Facebook profile.
My finger hovered over the send button. After a moment’s hesitation, I pressed it.
“The fake death service you mentioned earlier–does it really exist? How much does it cost? I’m booking it.”
I put my phone back on the nearby cabinet, my heart still aching.
I noticed that Lucas’s computer was sitting on the cabinet.
He had probably planned to work in the room, staying with me.
But as soon as he opened the computer, a call from Vanessa made him leave.
By sheer impulse, I reached for his laptop.
I opened it and, as expected, it asked for a password.
Probably out of habit, I casually tried my birthday.
