Chapter 5
I suddenly remembered that today was the day of my mother’s cremation
I explained the situation to the hospital and signed my discharge papers ahead of schedule
The doctor was clearly uneasy about my condition and took the initiative to accompany me there
When the staff handed me my mom’s um, I did not collapse into tears as I had expected. Inseat Ifer something deep inside me finally snap–the last shackle binding me to this wretched life.
I took a deep breath and whispered a quiet goodbye to the doctor before heading back to the Stone family
to pack my things.
As soon as I stepped into the living room, I saw Elliott and Joanna were sprawled on the sofa together.
When she saw me, Joanna hurriedly zipped up her skirt.
But the red marks on her body revealed the intensity of their heated passion.
I wasn’t sad. I wasn’t angry.
I simply walked past them, as if I hadn’t seen anything, my face expressionless.
By the time I came out with my suitcase, Joanna had already left.
Only Elliott was sitting there, drinking alone.
When he saw me, he slowly raised his head.
The dim light cast over his face, making it impossible to read his expression.
“Daniella, where did you go today?” he asked.
“None of your business.”
I was unwilling to say more, but Elliott suddenly smashed his glass.
He stormed over to me.
“Stop pretending to be so pure. Don’t think I don’t know you were cheating on me,” he sp
“Daniella, are you so desperate for attention? Are you blaming me for ignoring you these past few days? Fine, I’ll give you what you want!”

With that, Elliott roughly tore at my clothes and dragged me toward the bed.
I was stunned by his actions.
I struggled to break free, shouting, “Elliott, are you insane? I just gave birth!”
But Elliott, wasn’t listening, now completely out of control. Like a wild animal, he bit down on my shoulder, his breath hot and ragged against my skin.
I pushed him away with all my strength and slapped him across the face.
The room went still for a fraction of a second.
Then, his eyes darkened.
In huge furious, Elliott grabbed a nearby wine glass and hurled it at me.
BANG!!!
Pain exploded across my forehead as warm blood trickled down my face.
Elliott froze for a moment, then instinctively reached out to help me.
“Why didn’t you just dodge…”
I staggered backward, trying to speak, but my body gave way, and I collapsed.
