Chapter 8
Elliott’s face turned pale, and he quickly rushed his grandfather to the hospital
The entire Stone family was thrown into chaos.
After a night of emergency treatment, his grandfather’s life was no longer in danger. However, he remained unconscious, and no one knew when he would wake up.
Elliott stood at the hospital room door, irritated, lighting a cigarette.
The doctor quickly rushed forward to stop him.
Elliott grabbed the doctor by the collar.
“You’re the man who was dating Daniella!” he snarled. “How dare you show your face in front of me? Where is Daniella? Did she run off with the child to hide at your place? Tell her to come out and see me
right now!”
At hearing this, the usually composed doctor couldn’t hold back his anger. He shot back at Elliott.
“You bastard.” he growled. “You think money makes you untouchable, huh? Do you even realize what she was doing that day? She wasn’t on some date–she was at the funeral home, collecting her mother’s ashes! She lost everything in one day–her child, her mother. And you still think she’s hiding from you?!”
“And even you call yourself a husband? While your wife was suffering the worst pain of her life, you were out there drinking and sleeping around! Do you even still a human?”
The nurses gathered around to intervene, but their words were laced with accusations towards Elliott.
Unable to respond, Elliott stood there speechless, his mind racing. All he could think about was the expression on Daniella’s face that day–so calm, so drained of life.
Over the years, he had grown accustomed to ignoring Daniella’s emotions, but how could he have missed the intense pain hidden behind her calm exterior?
A sharp pang stabbed through his chest, but he clenched his jaw and shook his head stubbornly.
“You are all lying. I won’t believe your bullshit words at all!” he muttered, his voice shaking.
“Daniella cared so much for her mother. If she really died, how could Daniella not react? And the child…
that child was born with her life, so how could she be so calm about it?”
He wanted so badly to believe that he was right, but his heart pounded in his chest, an overwhelming

sense of dread creeping up on him.
Like a man possessed, he sped home. The moment he stepped inside, the silence pressed down on him,
As he stared at the empty house, the truth started to hit him.
He remembered on the day they fought, when Daniella came home, it was to pack her things.
She was serious. She was really gone.
