“You’ll let him leave? Ella, are you out of your mind? Once he walks out that door, he’ll never come back. and you’ll be ruined forever” Paloma protested vehemently, unwilling to allow Marcus to leave so easily.
“Ma, please leave us alone, Daniella pleaded, wanting to have a private conversation with Marcus.
Paloma reluctantly left the feuding couple, her mind racing to find a way to save Greg’s daughter from humiliation. As her mother, she believed it was her duty to do the right thing, and she was certain Gregory would agree if he were still alive. “Alright, but please, dear, make a wise decision.” For the first time, Daniella regarded her as a mother, and it was quite flattering,
“I know why you were desperate to have a child, Dani,” Marcus began as soon as they were alone in the living room. With Ortega’s help, they had obtained a copy of her father’s last will. “Can’t we find some common ground here? You don’t need to be pregnant anymore.” There were two versions of her father’s last will, the first of which had been read before the revised one.
Daniella wondered how Marcus had come to know the contents of the last will. She had to admit he was impressively nosy, given that he even knew about the revised document. “I may not be heartless like you, Marcus. You’re right, I don’t need to have a baby anyinore, but how can you expect me to terminate the pregnancy even before it’s born? Now, please leave before I call the police,” she threatened. If their discussion about abortion persisted, she couldn’t guarantee his safety any longer. How could he be so disrespectful toward their unborn child? Regardless of her reasons for getting pregnant, there was no way she would terminate the pregnancy.
“I’m not leaving until you agree to my suggestion! I also have a say in this! I insist that y pregnancy,” Marcus reiterated firmly.

Daniella marveled at his unwavering determination. “For the nth time, I’m telling you that abortion is not an option. Now, leave or go to hell!” she yelled, her patience exhausted with his obstinacy.
“Please, Dani…” he pleaded.
“Just go, Marcus. Please…?” Daniella was emotionally drained from the heated argument over the fate of
her unborn child.
For a moment, Marcus fell silent, his gaze fixed on the woman who remained steadfast about continuing
with her pregnancy. Maybe she would make a great mother to their child…
“Are you done now?” Paloma returned to the living room with a tray of refreshments, serving them both
cold drinks she had prepared herself. She handed each of them a glass, observing their reaction. “You must be thirsty after all the shouting I heard from the kitchen,” she remarked, hoping to embarrass them. They were both adults, yet they couldn’t seem to talk civilly. A few minutes later, the Tylenol she had
mixed into their drinks began to take effect. Marcus became drowsy, and so did Daniella. Paloma smirked
at them, crossing her legs as she sat opposite them.
“You poisoned our drinks!” Marcus accused when he sensed something was amiss with his body. He felt
drowsy despite getting adequate sleep the night before. Who would become so sleepy immediately after
drinking a cold beverage?
Paloma pouted her lips but remained silent, watching them closely. She might have been wrong in her
suspicions, but sometimes a person had to take risks to achieve their goals.
Daniella glanced at Paloma to confirm Marcus’s claim about the poisoned drinks. Her stepmother only smirked in response, confirming Marcus’s accusation. Daniella was disheartened to realize that Paloma
had gone to such evil lengths.
“A perfect crime, isn’t it? You’ll use Marcus as a scapegoat for killing me!” she hissed, glaring at Paloma, but the older woman raised an eyebrow and sat there, presumably waiting for them. “You’re evil!”
“Maybe I am. Anyway, there’s only one way for you to survive the poison. Get married now, or I won’t give you the antidote!” Paloma declared.
Marcus knew where Daniella had inherited her erratic behavior in Hong Kong. Like mother, like daughter. “You’re insane!” Marcus shouted at Daniella’s mother. “Alright, I’ll marry her!” He needed to make a decision to save his life, at least for the time being.
“You’re wise, Marcus,” Paloma said and summoned the town mayor, who had been waiting for her signal. The mayor was initially reluctant to conduct a rushed marriage, and Paloma had to play some of her cards to convince him. The paperwork could follow after the ceremony.
Daniella was taken aback when her godfather entered the living room, looking apologetic “Godfather,” she greeted him.

“Hello, Ella dear. I understand why you can’t let this man go to another woman. He’s extremely
attractive, anyway, let’s proceed with the ceremony,” Edwin Sanchez, the town mayor, said to prepare
for the wedding.
Daniella was his goddaughter, and he knew she had never had a boyfriend because Gregory used to complain about her and had even asked for his help to convince her to start dating.
When Paloma had rushed to his home and asked him to officiate Daniella’s wedding to a very handsome man, he was surprised and didn’t believe her. He had been against it, as Gregory had wanted his daughter’s wedding to be grand. But Paloma insisted that he marry them immediately or Daniella would harm herself.
Daniella was confused by his statement, furrowing her brow. But as he said, the ceremony continued, and within five minutes, they were pronounced husband and wife. Marcus kissed her, while Paloma took a photo as evidence of the wedding that had taken place in their home. It had all happened so quickly that Daniella’s mind was still lost in thought.
