Chapter 25
For a week, Marcus had been a friend to Daniella. They talked, teased, they laughed, and enjoyed each other’s company. When Marcus asked her permission to tear a part of her home, she agreed. She thought he would be gone as soon as he could find a way to leave her house, but he didn’t. He told her that he would keep her company until Paloma and the rest of the household members would be back from the
trip.
“Hi beautiful,” he greeted Daniella when he saw her coming towards him.
“Hello there, handsome. What’s up?” She loved his sense of humor, honestly, she loved everything about him. For the week that they stayed together, she started to like him, but she couldn’t tell him that or he would make fun of her. He already warned her not to fall for him, and she said it would never happen. Was a woman’s heart always this gullible? His simple gesture to care for her was considered precious and something worth thanking for.
If she could rate her current feelings toward Marcus, she could say that about eighty percent of her heart does not belong to her anymore. It was given to Marcus…for free! Even if the man would become the
ugliest person on Earth, she would still choose him. He was kind, thoughtful, and caring. He may look like
a badass but his heart was pure gold and he was a gentleman in every sense. There was never a time that
he tried to take advantage of his position as her husband, but lately, she hoped that he would do something like…insisting to sleep with her. As days passed by, Daniella struggled to hide her true feelings
for Marcus. She couldn’t be impulsive or it would scare him.
“Where are you going, Dani?” He asked her. Her baby bump was still not obvious, and he hoped to see it before he would leave. The other day he called Samuel to help him with annulment papers and his friend was more than happy to help him. Yesterday, he received the parcel that contained the documents. He
was supposed to be excited about filling up the forms because it would be the beginning of setting himself
free, but he didn’t understand why he didn’t feel like filling it out just yet.
“I’m going to the garden, handsome.” She needed to cut some flowers from the garden to be used in all of
the flower vases inside the house. Her late mother had instilled in her brain that a house should have
fresh flowers every day.
“Can I go with you?” He asked.
Daniella’s mind froze when he mentioned going with her to the garden, and her heart skipped a beat
when Marcus smiled at her. “Why not?” She agreed. Her heartbeat was too loud and she always blamed
on her unstable emotional swings rather than acknowledging her feelings toward Marcus.
“I didn’t know that you’re into gardening,” he talked to her as they walked towards…a greenhouse? He was confused but chose to keep his mouth shut.
“It was my mother who loved gardening. When she passed away, it would be a waste if her garden would

be neglected,” she answered.
“What’s inside the greenhouse, Dani? Vegetables?” Marcus couldn’t stop himself from asking
Everyone who saw their greenhouse assumed that they grew vegetables inside, but no, they were wrong Inside the greenhouse was a collection of different species of flowers, mostly imported varieties, especially roses and orchids. “Just wait till you get inside, Marcus.” Then, she opened the entryway towards the greenhouse and she heard how the man gasped as he saw the blooming flowers.
Marcus hadn’t seen something like it before! The flowers were too beautiful…just like Daniella. “Amazing” So you are here to cut some of the flowers?” What else could be done inside a greenhouse full of flowers?
He wondered.
“Yeah,” she replied to his question.
Marcus took in the splendid view of the flower garden. He could say that it was his first time to see assorted colors of roses and he was only familiar with red and white roses, like the ones available in a flower shop. He just learned that there were a lot more like cream, lavender, peach, orange, pink, salmon pink, and yellow. “I’m speechless!” He said.
“I know. Everyone who has set foot inside told me the same thing,” she informed him.
Marcus glared at Daniella when she mentioned everyone setting foot inside the greenhouse. Was there another man beside him who was inside the greenhouse? “I thought this place is special, then why do you let just anybody get inside?” He questioned her in an offended tone.
“They were not just anyone, they were my friends, Marcus.” She answered, but later on, she realized that she didn’t have to explain. “So, if you were planning to give me some flowers, you better not do it!” She jested as the flowers inside the greenhouse were prettier than those in the flower shop, and when it comes to flower arrangement, she was an expert.
“I’m glad that I don’t have the plan to give you some flowers,” Marcus lied because he had been thinking of taking her on a date, with a bouquet of flowers and chocolates before going back to Hacienda Velasquez.
“Good,” she answered but deep inside, she was hurting. Even when she has a greenhouse full of colorful and beautiful flowers, she would be glad if he would give her a bouquet. She went over to the line of yellow roses and cut a dozen of them. It’s the color of sunshine, hope, and happiness. It also stands for positivity, optimism, enlightenment, and loyalty. But yellow also means cowardice and deceit. Just like her situation lately. She was a coward for not being able to tell him the truth and she continued to deceive herself that she would be just fine when he was gone.
