Chapter 23 The Game–1
The room was dead quiet. Henry pursed his thin lips and asked coldly. “Had your fili?”
Zoey, with a serious look, said, “Nice body.“”
Henry stayed silent, turning his head slightly, his earlobes turning red. He sounded a bit annoyed, “Did you come here just for this?
⠀⠀ “Did you forget?”
“Forget what?”
Our unfinished game. Zoey leaned against the door frame, her eyes drifting to the night sky outside the window. “If you’re not up for it, 111 head out.”
As she turned to leave, Henry’s urgent voice called out, “Wait!”
Zoey stopped, and behind her, she heard some rustling, followed by pause, then footsteps.
“Come in Henry had already changed into his pajamas.
Seeing him out of his usual formal wear was a bit of a shock. Compared to his cold, sharp demeanor during the day, he seemed
relaxed now.

The chessboard was set up, and they picked up their game from last time. Halfway through, Zoey suddenly looked up, “You’re not focused,
Henry’s hand holding the chess piece paused, but he didn’t deny it. This was the first time he wasn’t focused while playing chess.
Zoey moved her rook into enemy territory, “Checkmate.”
Game over.
Henry rubbed his forehead. “Not fun.”
Zoey felt she shouldn’t have come today. With him so distracted, the game was no challenge. She stood up and stretched. “Don’t come to me until you’ve sorted yourself out.”
“Sorry.”
Zoey had already turned around, but hearing this, she looked back in surprise, seeing the persistent gloom on Henry’s face, She thought for a moment and, for the sake of Jesse and her senior Maya, decided to show some concern.
“Is it because of Luna?”
“Yes and no,”
“Either it is or it isn’t.” Zoey didn’t like vague answers.
Henry didn’t want to say it. He wasn’t one to get tangled up in romantic feelings, but after returning, he had someone investigate. The only people who entered and exited that club that night were from the King Family. He even had someone check Zoey’s schedule. The schedule showed she returned to Emerald City the next day.
At that moment, he couldn’t describe his feelings. Just the thought that the person that night was Lana made it hard for him to accept.

His face turned icy. “What if the person you like isn’t what you imagined?”
Zoey understood, “Disillusioned?”
The nodded.
Zoey almost wanted to laugh. It was the first time she saw Henry troubled by love. She looked at him sympathetically, “Accept reality, what else can you do?“.
Henry looked up at her. Zoey added, “Sometimes we misjudge people, it’s normal.”
“…” Henry
y stammered. He wanted to say he didn’t misjudge, he just didn’t see the person’s face clearly, but he couldn’t say it.
He, the high and mighty Henry Phillips, couldn’t forget a one–night stand. It would be laughable if he said it out loud.
But he just couldn’t forget.
“If… that person is… He looked at the delicate face in front of him, her eyes full of sympathy, and swallowed his words, “Never mind, you’re right.”
Maybe people were more emotional when drunk. The tall, handsome man lowered his eyes, his disappointment evident. Zoey patted his shoulder, rare in her comfort, “Look on the bright side, who has been blind in their youth?
Henry remained silent, feeling not comforted at all.
Watching Zoey’s leisurely departing figure, he couldn’t help but smile. With that smile, the fog of his somberness was lifted. He really wasn’t suited for such a melancholic atmosphere.
The next day, Zoey went to the research institute and held a meeting with the senior professors.
“The HS special drug research is to be immediately prioritized. Zoey spoke up.
The professors were all surprised. “So soon?”
Zoey’s slender fingers tapped the table, “Arrange it as soon as possible.”
She was a big shot in the research institute, with absolute authority her skills and expertise were well recognized.

Chapter 23 The Game–2
Someone couldn’t help but get excited, “Nebulosis Syndrome is a super rare genetic disease, with only a few cases recorded worldwide, but who knows how many unrecorded ones are out there. The Incidence rate is high, and it’s a nightmare to cure.
The disease gets its name from one of its symptoms, where patients have colorful spots in their eyes that look like cosmic nebulae. It’s caused by a unique gene mutation, with symptoms like cognitive dysfunction, memory loss, motor impairment, language regression, eventually leading to paralysis, aphasia, and gradual vision loss until complete blindness. But if we can develop the H5 special drug specifically for this disease, it would be a medical miracle!”
Zoey lowered her eyes. This time, she came back partly because Saul sent her, but more importantly, for this research.
The disease was so bizarre that current medical methods couldn’t cup it, only suppress it with medication. Initially, the body would have a significant drop in immunity, requiring long–term medication to maintain, making it easy to contract diseases. Even a small cold, if not treated promptly, could be fatal.
As the disease progressed, various symptoms would appear. The most terrifying part was that patients would start to fear sunlight. Exposure to sunlight would cause severe rashes and blisters. Eventually, the whole body would ulcerate, leaving the patient bedridden
The more beautiful the name, the more terrifying the disease.
The professors had a heated discussion, but when Zory spoke, everyone quieted down. “Announce admissions to Aurora University, recruiting new members based on entrance scores.
Aurora University was the top university in Emerald City, Novaria. Anyone who could get into Aurora University was a genius among geniuses.
The research institute usually recruited by observing various universities. This time, for this particular research, they directly targeted Aurora University, showing how much Dr. K valued this project!
Everyone discussed enthusiastically.
“This way, we won’t have to worry about a lack of personnel for HS.
“Right, other research projects are almost finished or in their final stages. We can take more newcomers for training, but for HS, Dr. K, you should be the main person in charge.”
Zoey didn’t refuse and picked a few people, “You guys will work with me.”
The chosen ones were thrilled and agreed eagerly.
Zoey left the research institute and returned to the Phillips estate. It was already 7 PM. As soon as she entered the living room, she heard Ethan’s cheerful voice. “Oh my god, Dr. K is openly recruiting! The research institute is bringing in new bloed!”
Benjamin glanced over, “Hmm, Dr. K is making big moves, just finished a nano–tracking project, and now starting a new one. But what is this new research about?”
Who knows, Dr. K’s research topics are always confidential, only announced upon success. After all, Dr. K’s reputation speaks for Itself, no need to attract investment. With her involvement, countless people are willing to invest, and Novaria’s government strongly supports her. Ethan, holding his phone, sat nearby, full of admiration, “Amazing, Dr. K is already a national treasure at such a young age. No, she is Novaria’s greatest treasure.”
Zoey came in and asked, “You’ve never seen Br, K, how do you know she’s young?”
I’m guessing!” Ethan’s eyes were full of light. Seeing Zoey come in, he eagerly shared, “Zoey, look, the research institute is recruiting. Too bad I’m not old enough…”

“Study hard, and you can join in the future.”
“Huh? I don’t understand medical research.“
The research institute doesn’t only do research. There are multiple departments, including your favorite, mechanics.”
In fact, Zoey had convinced those old–fashioned professors to open that department.
Ethan’s eyes lit up, but before he could speak, Benjamin sneered, Via re not Dr. K, how do you know the research institute has many departments? How do you know Ethan can definitely get in? Ethan, don’t believe her. She’s deceiving naive teenagers, shameless!”
