Hailey’s true identity had always been a mystery.
Rumors swirl–some said she was the love child of someone important, while others insist she was the daughter of Aiden’s
ex–wife.
No matter what the truth was, the media had been chasing her every move, desperate for a glimpse of the elusive young Lady.
Under the cover of night, a sleek black sedan pulled up to the club.
The door swung open, and Selena and Eliza stepped out, arm in arm, clearly the picture of sisterly love.
Selena looked like a dream in her starry gown–its layers of deep blue shimmering under the lights, absolutely breathtaking. Her hair was done simply but elegantly, a soft curl that made her look effortlessly chic.
Compared to her, Eliza kind of faded into the background, but she seemed totally fine with it–probably used to being the sidekick by now.
The two sisters strolled into the club, while photographers lurked in the shadows, snapping shots of every moment Selena passed through.
The club had two entrances–one in the front, one in the back. Most people go in through the back to avoid the paparazzi, but tonight? The front entrance was packed with stars.
As guests filtered in, there was still no sign of the Dalton family’s car. Half an hour later, a black sedan finally rolled up–it was the Dalton family’s official ride.
The four major families had their own distinct license plates, and the press could spot them from a mile away.
The car door opened, and the first thing everyone noticed were long, flawless legs.
Then, a young woman in a crescent–white gown stepped into the spotlight. It was Hailey.
Her hair was elegantly pinned up, and she wore pearl earrings that perfectly matched her dress.
Her skin was porcelain, her makeup subtle yet so captivating one couldn’t look away.
She had the softness of a woman, but the poise of a queen. Every step she took screamed elegance,
Walking beside Hailey was Isaac Dalton, the eldest heir of the Dalton family. He looked sharp as hell in his suit–classy. refined, and gentlemanly.
Honestly, if they weren’t cousins, they’d make the perfect couple.
Isaac shot a sideways glance at Hailey, his eyes narrowing slightly. He knew the drama that came with his uncle’s family. especially his cousin Selena.
And as the daughter of his late aunt, Hailey was definitely going to have a rough time under her current stepmother’s thumb.
Tonight was the Dalton family’s big gala, and since Hailey was family. Isaac had decided to pick her up himself. But es didn’t expect her entrance to turn heads like it did.
Hailey linked her arm with Isaac’s, and the two of them strutted through the front entrance of the banquet hall. The room was glittering with stars, and Selena and her crew were already there.

Chapter 6
At a Dalton family event, Selena was always the main attraction. Everywhere she went, rich young guys would follow like lost puppies, trying to get in good with the family.
Tonight, Selena had gone all out–she was the star of the show. She had the looks, the status, the presence. But it seemed like her spotlight was about to be snatched away.
As the door opened, Hailey appeared, dressed in a white gown that made her look like she was glowing. She was poised, cool, and stunning.
She stood in the doorway, arm in arm with the suave Isaac, and the moment they walked in, the room went silent, all eyes on her.
Despite her youth, Hailey had this rare elegance that made Selena look like a background character. Instantly, she became the center of attention.
Isaac walked up to his grandfather, Thomas Dalton, with Hailey Dalton by his side, a warm smile on his lips, “Grandpa, this is Hailey
Thomas, though well into his seventies, was still going strong. He had made sure to attend the party, of course.
His hair was silver, his face gentle, and he took a good look at Hailey. “Not bad, not bad at all,” he said with a nod of approval.
Hailey softly greeted, “Hello, Grandpa.”
Thomas‘ smile grew wider, and his hands–weathered with age–gently patted Hailey’s hand. “You look just like Valerie.”
At the mention of Valerie, Hailey’s birth mother, she paused for a second. Then she gave a polite, small smile.
In her past life, she was always too shy to know much, except that her mother passed away when she was a baby and she was sent to live with the BrownIS.
As soon as Selena and Aiden heard the name “Valerie,” their face twisted.
Thomas proudly guided Hailey into the center of the crowd, introducing her as his long–lost granddaughter. Instantly, all eyes were on Hailey.
But Selena’s face contorted in disbelief. That gown! How the hell is Hailey wearing that?
The gown was a brand–new, high–end piece from Ocean Lily, one of the top fashion brands. Selena had tried and failed to borrow it, and now here was Hailey–this country girl–looking like she belonged on a red carpet.
Filled with jealousy, Selena’s eyes blazed. This has to be Isaac’s doing! Hailey came with him, so he must have helped her get
it‘
It’s so unfair! I’ve known Isaac forever, and at work, he won’t even throw me a bone. But now he’s lending Hailey a dress like this? What the hell?‘ she thought, seething.
Selena’s resentment grew, and she silently promised to get back at them.
Once Thomas finished introducing Hailey, the party kicked off.
The adults were busy making business deals, and Thomas, growing tired, left early. The younger crowd gathered together, laughing and chatting
Selena, Eliza, and a few other young women surrounded Hailey, making sure she was boxed in.
“That gown is gorgeous, Hailey. It’s from Ocean Lily, right?” one woman in a purple dress asked.
Hailey gave a small nod.
