Chapter 37
Hailey glared at him, angrily saying. “You can’t just do this out in the open”
“Okay, got it,” Owen said, carrying the bags in one hand and pulling her gently with the other. He was tender and focused. “I couldn’t help myself just now. Can you forgive me?”
Hailey didn’t want to forgive him but she couldn’t really stay angry when he looked at her so gently. She felt like she was about to burst with happiness inside.
Pretending to be angry for just two seconds, she said solemnly, “Don’t do that again, and I’ll forgive you.”
“Okay, I promise,” Owen said, raising his eyebrows.
The two chatted and laughed on their way back to the villa.
For dinner, Owen helped as an assistant while Hailey was the head chef.
Since it was just the three of them, they didn’t prepare much–a soup, two meat dishes, three vegetable dishes, and two cold dishes. It was quite a feast.
Christopher didn’t feel quite right during the meal. He finally experienced what it was like to have his single status rubbed
- in.
Owen and Hailey were all lovey–dovey in front of him.
The usually ice–cold Owen had completely melted, showing a gentleness that was shocking in front of Hailey, while the usually aloof Hailey acted sweet and considerate in front of Owen.
“Is this what being in love feels like? They are so wrapped up in each other that they seem to forget anyone else existed. Christopher felt wronged, but he didn’t say anything.
After dinner, it was already late.
Hailey had given Christopher the precautions and the traditional medicine formula. Since the Blackwell family would come to pick him up the next day, he went back to his room early to rest.
Hailey packed up to leave.
Owen asked her to wait for a moment and then went upstairs.
Hailey waited in the living room.
Two minutes later, there was a clap of thunder outside, followed by pouring rain.
Hailey’s phone rang.
It was Thomas asking why she wasn’t back yet and whether he should send a driver to pick her up because of the rain.
Hailey hesitated before saying, “No need, Grandpa. I’m with Owen; he’ll send me home.”
Hearing that she was with Owen, Thomas felt relieved.
But thinking of a man and woman alone together, he still found it a bit inappropriate and softly admonished, “Hailey, you’re still young. Even though Owen is a steady young man, some things are better not done too soon.”
Hailey couldn’t help but laugh. “Grandpa, I know.”

She was always steady, so hearing her say that made Thomas feel reassured. “Alright then, I will go to sleep now.”
“Okay, Grandpa.” Hailey said before the phone call was hung up.
“It’s raining.” Owen said as he came downstairs.
Hailey turned around, hummed in acknowledgment, and slightly frowned. “The rain is coming down hard; it should stop
soon.”
Owen walked up to her and said, “This is for you.”
It was a gift box.
“What’s this?” Hailey opened the box.
Inside was a necklace with crushed diamonds that didn’t look luxurious but were very delicate. In the middle of the necklace was the initial “O”
“Why did you suddenly give me a gift?” Hailey couldn’t hide the upturn of her lips.
Owen stood in front of her and slowly curled his lips into a smile. “It’s a token of my affection for you.”
“That’s so cheesy,” Hailey said, but her face was full of smiles. “Put it on me.”
Owen laughingly helped her put it on.
She had a slender and delicate neck, with beautiful and dainty collarbones. Her skin was smooth and tender, making her irresistible.
After putting on the necklace, Owen couldn’t help but compliment her, “So beautiful.”
Hailey raised her hand and touched the necklace on her neck. “You have a good taste.”
“Silly,” Owen said, tapping her forehead. “I meant you’re beautiful.”
Hailey pursed her lips, her pretty face turning slightly flush.
Owen relaxed, his long arms wrapping around her slender waist, burying his head in her neck and inhaling her sweet scent. His voice was low and lazy. “Hailey, stay here tonight.”
Hailey tilted her head up slightly and wrapped her arms around his waist. “No, I can’t. Grandpa asked me to go
back.”
“I don’t want you to leave.” He expressed his emotions directly as he pecked at her neck.
Hailey felt itchy and couldn’t help but shrink her neck a bit. Her voice was soft and tender. “Stop messing around. When the rain gets lighter, take me home. If it’s too late, you can stay in my place, but I can’t stay over here.”
Owen let out a soft whine, clinging to Hailey tightly.
Hailey had no choice but to sit down on the sofa.
A dim lamp was on in the living room, creating just the right atmosphere.
Hailey was scrolling through X, while Owen stuck to her like glue, occasionally kissing her. Seeing that her attention was hardly on him, Owen became a bit dissatisfied.
“Hailey,” he called in a low voice.
“Mhm,” Hailey responded.

Chapter 37
She was reading entertainment news about a certain blogger’s revelation that the web novel “Thrilling Suspense by the author River was soon to be adapted. The female lead might be Selena.
In Hailey’s past life, the female lead of “Thrilling Suspense” was indeed Selena.
Later, when Selena found out Hailey was the original author of “Thrilling Suspense,” she directly took Hailey’s pen name and announced to the world that she was not only the female lead of “Thrilling Suspense” but also its behind–the–scenes
author.
For a time, Selena’s name spread across the country and even worldwide.
However, no one knew that the creator of this amazing work lived in a cold, dark basement, unnoticed.
Owen noticed Hailey’s mood change and glanced at her phone. “Have you read “Thrilling Suspense“?”
Hailey controlled her emotions and looked at Owen with smile. “Of course, I really like this book.”

“They say it’s going to be adapted. Who do you think Luna French in the entertainment industry?” asked Owen.
“Thrilling Suspense” was written from a female perspective.
The person who connected the entire story was the female gh there was a male lead, his presence was not strong
Hailey immediately said, “Trix Guerrero.”
“Hmm? Why?”
officer Luna.
“First of all, Trix is good at acting and popularity. Also, her image and temperament are very much like Luna’s. The novel describes Luna as not being stunning, but having a pair of very shrewd eyes–beautiful eyes. Those eyes seem to see right through people.
“Trix has a very standard pair of beautiful but shrewd eyes, and they’re natural. Plus, she’s young, so she should be physically fit and able to endure hardships.
“And she’s only been popular for the past two years, so her price isn’t high. So considering all these factors, Trix is the most suitable candidate.”
After hearing Hailey’s analysis, Owen couldn’t help but laugh. “I was thinking the same. It seems we really are on the same wavelength. But I didn’t expect you to know so much about ‘Thrilling Suspense! You must have read it many times.”
