Chloe isn’t like that!” Lewis immediately defended Chloe.“You’re jealous that she has many suitors, all better than your poor boyfriend. You’re trying to sabotage her; do I’ll fall for it?”
Alice was incredulous. “Sabotage?”
“Yes. I know Garrett is pursuing Chloe.”

Alice smirked.“Everyone knows they were dating, not just Lawrence added, “Chloe and Garrett started dating after high school.” Lewis
was stunned, looking at Chloe incredulously.“Chloe, what’s going on?” Chloe hadn’t told him about Garrett.
Chloe was distraught; Garrett’s mother had contacted Alice, revealing the engagement. She’d calmed Garrett down, but Alice had exposed it!
Chloe’s face was pale.“Fifth brother, Garrett and I weren’t serious. He told everyone we were dating.” She couldn’t admit it; Lewis would be angry. She looked at Ethan pitifully.“Big brother, I’m sorry for lying.”
Ethan looked at Chloe deeply.“You weren’t with Garrett?” He hadn’t expected her to lie to him. Chloe hung her head.
Lewis said, “Big brother, you have big ambitions, but you shouldn’t use Chloe to try and off to a rich guy. It’ll ruin her.”

“I didn’t force her!” Ethan was angry. Chloe had been the one trying to climb the social ladder; now she was blaming him.
Chloe quickly said, “Fifth brother, it’s not Big brother’s fault. We can’t offend the Garretts, so I- pretended to date Garrett. Nothing happened between us.”
“Chloe, I believe you.”
Alice laughed.“Chloe slept with Garrett countless times; nothing happened? Who are you kidding?”
“Alice, shut up! Do you think Chloe is as shameless as you? She wouldn’t be with a poor guy!”
Alice’s face changed.“Chloe didn’t just sleep with Garrett…”
Before Alice could continue, Chloe rushed to her, pleading, “Alice, I won’t compete with you anymore. You’re the only Land heiress. After my engagement with Fifth brother, I’ll move out and won’t bother you.” Please don’t reveal her affair with the butler. Lewis wouldn’t want her then.
Alice saw Chloe’s plea; she pushed her away.“You’re trying to stop me from revealing who else you slept with. I’m going to tell them.”
Chloe’s face went pale. She grabbed a fruit knife.“Alice, I’m truly sorry. I’ll kill myself.”
Alice leaned back.“Go ahead.”

“Fifth brother, my position in the Land family is awkward. If I die, the family will be peaceful. I’m willing to die.”
“I won’t let you die!” Lewis grabbed another knife but was stopped by Ethan.“Are you crazy? “Big brother, I’ve loved Chloe since forever. Because of my leg, I felt unworthy, so I couldn’t confess, only watching from afar. Since she’s willing to be with me, I’ll protect her with my life. Ethan, holding the knife, looked dejected.
Alice watched, holding a fruit bowl.“Continue. Why stop?”
“Alice, do
you have a conscience? Do you want to see Chloe die?” Lewis angrily threw the fruit bowl away.
Alice said lightly, “If you want me to drop the charges against Chloe, I made a condition to Big brother, which he hasn’t told you yet.”
Lewis and Chloe looked at Ethan.
Lewis asked, “Big brother, what was the condition?”
Ethan looked uncomfortable and didn’t answer.
Alice smiled.“Fifth brother, you were injured and had your leg amputated; I carried the blame for years. Big brother should clear my name.” She looked at Ethan.“If Big brother clarifies what happened, I won’t pursue charges. A good deal, right?”
Lewis looked at Ethan.“Big brother, what’s going on?”
Ethan was furious but couldn’t do anything to Alice.
He said through gritted teeth, “Lewis, when you were injured and needed amputation, I was heartbroken; I didn’t know what to do. Try to understand.”
Alice interrupted.“So, you intentionally didn’t answer the phone, forcing me to make the decision?”
Ethan’s face was grim.“Big brother had no choice…”
“Mr. Land, just answer yes or no.” Alice pressed him.
Ethan’s face twisted. After a long pause, he answered, “Yes.” His voice lacked conviction.

“Fine, but she can’t touch the foundation again!” Alice’s target wasn’t Chloe. Chloe, relieved, smiled.“Big brother, thank you. I won’t make the same mistake again.” Ethan looked at Lewis with guilt.“Big brother will compensate you.”
“I want to marry Chloe. You can’t object!” Lewis held Chloe’s hand tightly.
Ethan’s face hardened.“Not this!”
