Chapter 12
Cassidy had to admit that Lenora indeed had a way of seeing through people.
Matthew brought over the legal department of Telford Enterprise in person. If Ormonde Entertainment refused to retract the article and apologize, it would receive a court summons the next day.
Cassidy was only intent on teaching Katelyn, that angelic bitch, a lesson and adding some trouble for Harley to avenge the grievances Lenora suffered in the Brandt family for three years.
She had been in the entertainment industry for nearly a decade lealing mostly with these virtual public opinion battles. And such press releases were often adopted to smear opponents
Harley didn’t keep a proper distance from women during his three years of marriage to Lenora, resulting in such photos. He couldn’t be considered completely innocent.
Cassidy didn’t expect the other party to bring lawyers to negotiate directly. The mouths of those two lawyers were like cocks crowing, clucking non–stop until she found herself losing her edge somehow.
But having maintained her cool and aloof persona for so long, Cassidy was determined not to show any weakness. She looked straight at Matthew and sneered, “Enough talking, guys. Mr. Finley, do you even know who sent these photos to Lenora?”
Matthew didn’t expect the conversation to suddenly shift here, and for a moment, he was a bit slow to react. “Who?” he probed.
“Who else could it be but Katelyn? You can have me delete the press releases, sure, but can you make Katelyn withdraw the photos she sent to Lenora?”
Matthew naturally couldn’t. This sudden revelation left him at a loss, but after all, he had been Harley’s secretary for over seven years, and he still had his wits about him in crucial moments. “Ms. Richmond, may I ask, what is your relationship with Ms. Maynard?”
“That’s none of your business!”
Silent, Matthew left with his two secretaries. Cassidy watched them go far before she took off her sunglasses and patted her chest. “Pfft! I almost couldn’t hold up!”
Linda, beside her, teased, “Mind your image. What if someone else sees this?”
“Don’t panic, Linda! There’s no outsider here, right? Ah, my phone’s ringing. Nora’s call. I need to report the results to her.” Linda’s lips twitched, and with a disgruntled expression, she closed the door and left.
Cassidy thought Lenora was calling to inquire about the outcome, ready to boast about herself, but before she could even speak, Lenora’s calm voice from the phone. “Retract all the press releases and stop buying trends. My affair with Harley Brandt ends here. Let’s call it a day for now.”
Cassidy was bewildered, questioning, “Are you being kidnapped Just give a signal if you are.”
“Stop joking, Cassie. I’m a bit tired.” Lenora did sound weary.
Cassidy pursed her lips, agreeing somewhat reluctantly. “Alright, but don’t be upset; we’ll shine on our own in the future. Single life simply couldn’t be more wonderful!”
“What life could be more wonderful?” A deep male voice came through suddenly, startling Cassidy.
She looked up and realized Dashnell had arrived without her noticing. She quickly shrank her neck, looking pitiful and

helpless. “Nothing!” she denied.
Upon hearing Dashnell, Lenora smiled and ended the call. She turned and headed to the kitchen, planning to cook a sumptuous dinner to soothe her wounded little soul.
An hour later, however, she decided to just order takeout instead
As planned, all press releases were withdrawn, and just as the love triangle involving Lenora, Harley, and Katelyn was reaching its climax, it abruptly ended.
Without the press releases and with Harley’s efforts to suppress the matter, everything had calmed down by evening. However, Harley suffered from insomnia that night.
When Matthew told him that the photos originated from Katelyn, he suddenly remembered Lenora’s words: “You overestimate yourself.”
At the time, he didn’t think much of it, assuming it was just Lenora lashing out in embarrassment. But now the truth was out. Harley felt an inexplicable restlessness.
Finally, he decided to let it go with a smoke.

After that day, Lenora lay low for a while; she didn’t appear in anyone’s conversations, as if she had vanished without a trace.
Everyone thought she was heartbroken by love. Aware of her hopelessness in the rival of the love triangle, she thus quietly quit.
While it was true, Lenora had just been to Coniston for a bit in reality, trying out skiing, bungee jumping, surfing, and paragliding, and was currently having a blast.
After a month of fun, Lenora planned to return home in a couple of days. She was at the duty–free shop, buying handbags and hard–to–find lipsticks at home for Cassidy, when a familiar male voice surprised her. “Lenora!”
She turned around and saw Emory, another rising star in Ormonde Entertainment.
“How did you

up here?” she asked in a start.

Emory was only twenty–one this year, with thick eyebrows, bright eyes, and two little canine teeth. When he smiled, he melted the weariness in Lenora.
“I happened to be on break recently, and Cassidy asked me to pick you up.”

Lenora tossed three lipsticks into the basket, looking at him with a half–smile. “What’s she scheming this time?”
Emory was not as thick–skinned as Aran. Under Lenora’s gaze, his ears turned red as he reached up to ruffle his hair. “A movie I filmed last year is premiering on the eighth of next month. Cassidy suggested we generate some buzz.”
“You’re quite honest.” Lenora chuckled and ripped the other half of the list she was holding and handed it to him. “Find these three bags.”

Lenora’s flight was at eight the next morning, and it was around three in the afternoon when she arrived back at Lambert Bay.
As soon as she and Emory got off the plane, they saw the paparazzi arranged by Cassidy taking pictures.

Their stopover in Hobart City before flying back to Hobart City would take about eighty minutes, so it was already around eight in the evening when they arrived in Hobart City.
Emory’s agent arranged for a car to take them back. As Cassidy had asked Lenora to buy a lot of things, Emory helped Lenora bring in one suitcase,
“Leslie, get some water,” Lenora ordered.
After entering and changing into slippers, Lenora went to the kitchen to wash two cups and then get a cup of water for Emory.
“Lenora, your smart home system seems pretty interesting.”
Lenora sat down on the sofa, raising an eyebrow. “Do you like it If you do, ask Cassidy to set one up for you.”
Boys seemed to be quite interested in these things. As soon as Emory heard about it, he immediately showed excitement. “Is this from Dashnell’s company? It doesn’t seem to be on the market yet!”
Lenora nodded. “Yes, the procedures are being approved, and it should be on the market by the end of the year. If you like it, just tell Cassidy. She might let you experience it in advance.”
“Is that possible?”
“Why not?”
“Thank you, Lenora.”
“Don’t thank me.” Lenora took a sip of water.
Emory didn’t sit for long before leaving.

After seeing him off, Lenora asked Leslie to fill the bathtub, and after unpacking her suitcase, she went to take a bath in her pajamas. These days had been too hectic. After a continuous fifteen–hour flight, Lenora fell asleep in the bathtub.
Meanwhile, on Twitter’s trending, a trend named “Emory’s Mysterious Girlfriend” had surged to the third spot.

Just after finishing overtime work, Harley suddenly received a WhatsApp message from Devon, and before even opening it, he found the quick preview was of a photo.
Harley found Devon rather pointless but still clicked on it. Devon said: [Harley, your ex–wife is really something. It didn’t take long before she switched to another young hunk.]
With a flick of his index finger, Harley opened the photo, which showed the current national sweetheart, Emory, protecting a lady with a well–proportioned figure.
The lady’s face was only partially visible in the photo, but Harley instantly recognized her as Lenora, the woman he had divorced three months
ago.
