Chapter 88
Issca listened quietly, nodding as I shared my experiences. I spoke about Cyrus, my little boy, and the challenges of juggling motherhood and running a company. “Things have been so complicated with Carlos too,” I confessed, feeling the weight of it all. “One minute, everything seems fine, and the next, it’s a disaster.”
“I can only imagine,” Issca said softly. “You’ve been through a lot.”
We continued talking, and as the minutes passed, I felt a connection forming. Issca was attentive, asking questions that showed he genuinely cared. I realized how much I needed
this–someone to listen and understand.
After a while, I glanced at the clock on the wall and realized I should probably head back to Carlos’s house. “I need to go.” I said, trying to keep my tone light despite the anxiety bubbling inside me in that tipsy state.
Issca raised an eyebrow, a flicker of concern crossing his face. “Are you sure about that? I
know things are complicated with him.”
“I know,” I replied, determination creeping into my voice. “But I need to figure things out.”
Just then, Carlos walked into the pub. He looked around until he spotted me, and my

“There you are,” he said, taking my hand gently. “I’ve been looking for you.”
I glanced at Issca, who seemed surprised by Carlos’s sudden appearance. He didn’t know where Carlos lived, and I could see the worry on his face.
“Carlos, we were just talking,” I said, trying to ease the tension. But Carlos cut me off.
Come on. We’re leaving,” he said, his voice firm.
Issca stepped closer. “Wait! Are you sure you want to go with him?” he asked, looking
concerned.

“Let’s go, Doris,” Carlos urged again, his voice calm but firm.
I took a breath and felt sure of my choice. “Okay,” I said, surprising myself. I stood up, and Carlos took my hand, leading me outside.
As we walked to his car, I could feel Issca watching us, confused and worried. I wanted to tell him I was fine, but the pull I felt toward Carlos was too strong for me to say anything.
Once inside Carlos’s car, I settled into the leather seats, the familiar scent of his cologne surrounding me. He drove us through the city streets.
Arriving at the mansion, Carlos opened the door for me, and I stepped out, the grandeur of the place looming before us. He took my hand again, leading me inside with an air of confidence. I felt a flutter in my chest, a sense of anticipation mixed with uncertainty.
He took me upstairs, and the atmosphere felt heavy with unspoken feelings. The moment felt surreal, and I was acutely aware of every brush of his skin against mine. He gently set
me down in the bedroom, his gaze searching mine for a moment before he stepped back.
“Just rest,” he said softly, his voice low and soothing. I felt my heart race at his words, a strange mixture of comfort and anxiety flooding me.
I could hear soft sounds around the mansion–the floorboards creaked, and I could sense
life moving outside. My mind raced with thoughts and worries. Why was I here with Carlos? A part of me wanted to run, but another part liked having him nearby. Lying there made me feel vulnerable, exposed to my own doubts and his gaze. What did he want from me? As I stayed still, I noticed him moving around the room, sometimes just out of sight.
He seemed lost in thought, maybe considering what to say or do next. I wanted to ask him so many things, to understand why we were together like this, but the words wouldn’t come. Instead, I let my imagination wander, wondering if he felt what I did or if it was just
a game to him.

the space between us felt full of unspoken feelings and possibilities. I could hear my heartbeat, mixing with the uncertainty hanging in the air. What would happen next? Would he come closer, or would I be left to face my thoughts alone?
Once I was settled on the bed, I closed my eyes, the exhaustion of the day washing over me. But sleep eluded me. I sensed that Carlos was still in the room, his presence lingering like a
warm embrace.
I didn’t want to open my eyes; I felt a pang of shame for the way my life had spiraled, for everything that had happened with Nathan, Sienna, and the media circus that followed me.
The silence stretched on, and I could hear the faint sound of Cyrus calling for me from the
other room. “Mommy!” he shouted, his voice echoing through the mansion. My heart ached
at the sound, and I wanted nothing more than to rush to him.
But then I heard Carlos’s voice, calm and reassuring. “Shh,mummy needs to rest. Lets, go
play,”
