Chapter 118
Carlos’s POV:
Vesta stood in between us, trying to calm us down, but neither of us was listening. We were both too frustrated, too worried, and the fear we felt for Doris was turning into anger.
“How could you let this happen, Carlos?” Nathan barked, his eyes blazing with frustration. “She’s gone because you didn’t do enough! You’re the one who should’ve been protecting her!”
Stepping forward I said. “I didn’t ask for your judgment, Nathan. You think I’m not aware of that? Doris is my responsibility, my mistake! You think I’m sitting here doing nothing? I’ve got every person I can working on this, but nothing gets done when we’re all just standing here yelling at each other!” “You think that makes it better?”
Nathan shot back. “She’s out there somewhere, and you’re acting like everything’s fine. If you’d done more-“Enough!” I roared back, “Don’t you dare talk about what I should’ve done, Nathan! I know I messed up. But I’m not going to sit here letting you blame me for everything while we still haven’t even found out where she is!”
Vesta stepped forward, placing a hand on each of our chests, her voice shaking. “Stop it, both of you! This isn’t helping Doris!”
Nathan turned to her, eyes filled with frustration. “She’s right, Carlos. You’re too focused on your pride to see that you’re failing her.”
My face reddened, and I shot back, “And you think you’re doing better? You’re just standing there, pointing fingers. It’s my pack that’s out there searching. Not yours!”
Vesta looked between us, her face pale. “Please, both of you, focus! We need to find her, not fight amongst ourselves.
“Stop it!” She cried, her voice trembling with emotion. “This isn’t helping! You’re both acting like children. We need to focus on finding Doris” She was right. We were both too angry to think straight. We needed to work together, not tear each other apart. I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself.

Nathan, still visibly angry but calmer, spoke first. “I’ll send out the full force of the Johnson Pack. We will find Doris.” I nodded. “My side will be out in full force too.”
Nathan looked at me, a sly grin crossing his face. “Well, I hope you can be more effective
this time, Prince.”
His words stung. I knew he didn’t have much faith in me, but I wasn’t going to let that stop ine. “I will fight with everything I have for Doris,” I said, my voice firm. “No one is going to stand in my way.” Vesta turned to me, eyes wide. “Carlos… what do you mean by that?”
I looked her in the eye and sighed. It was time to tell her the truth. “I’m not just Carlos,” I said quietly. “I’m the Alpha King’s little prince. The one the public doesn’t know about.”
I still return to the location where Doris used to be, hoping for any sign of her. There’s a strange pull that keeps me coming back to this place, almost like she’s here, waiting just out
of reach.
Next day again, I stood at the edge of the estate, staring at the sprawling property. Every inch of it felt familiar, yet there was nothing here to show me where Doris had gone. My wolf growled restlessly, picking up a scent that pulled at me, something familiar, but still qut of reach.
The phone rang, cutting through my thoughts. It was the investigator. I answered quickly. “Carlos,” he began,“I’ve got some information about the estate.”
I leaned in, listening intently. “What did you find?”
“The estate near the highway, the one you’ve been looking into,” the investigator said, “It used to be owned by a wealthy businessman. He died three years ago.”
I braced myself, “And then?”
“Here’s the strange part,” the investigator continued. “No one knows who he sold it to before” he passed away. There’s no record of a transfer, no indication of who took ownership of the
place.”
1 frowned, “What do you mean, no record? How is that possible?” “It’s like the property just… disappeared,” he said, clearly as confused as I was. “The records are completely wiped clean. No one can trace who owns it now. It’s all very shady.”

said. “Someone’s hiding something. Doris was here. I know she was. Whoever’s behind this is covering their tracks. I can feel it.”
“I’ll keep digging, Carlos,” the investigator replied firmly. “But it’s going to take some time, Whoever’s involved is making sure they stay out of sight.”
I closed my eyes, frustration and helplessness building inside me. “I don’t have time. Every moment she’s missing feels like a lifetime. I need to know who’s behind this, and I need to
know now.”
“We’ll figure it out,” the investigator said reassuringly. “I’ll stay on it and let you know the moment we find anything.”
I hung up. The businessman had died, but no one knew who took over the property. Whoever bought it was keeping things quiet, too quiet. There was something hidden here, and I wasn’t going to stop until I found it.
Every time I get close, my wolf picks up a faint scent of Doris lingering around this place. It’s like she was here recently, but then… vanished. That hint of her is enough to keep me searching, even if I’m chasing shadows.
