Chapter 137
Carlos‘ POV
As I paced the room, thinking of my next steps, my mind kept drifting back to Doris. She was at Merhold’s side right now, wasn’t she? How would she react when she found out?
Part of me didn’t want to know, but another part of me, the part that cared for her more than I wanted to admit, was torn.
I couldn’t stop thinking about Doris. She had always been strong, certain of what she wanted, but now she was at Merhold’s side, torn and tormented.
The betrayal by Nathan, her feelings for me, and her complicated relationship with Merhold had her caught between two worlds.
She was more torn than ever, and I couldn’t help but think that I might be adding to her pain. She didn’t deserve this struggle, but there was nothing I could do for her right now. *What mattered was making sure she didn’t get hurt any further.
I had to be careful. Merhold couldn’t see the message I had sent. If he did, Doris would be caught in the middle of it all again. I had to trick him, keep him from taking it, and protect her at all costs.
The plan was clear: I had to move fast, make sure the Royal Warriors protected Cyrus at all costs, and get to Doris before it was too late.
The hours passed by slowly. My mind raced, my heart twisted with worry. I thought of Doris who was alone at Merhold’s side, probably torn between her own emotions and the
situation she was in.
If I could get to her, convince her to leave that place, I could make everything better. We could start over. I could protect her, protect Cyrus.
I looked out the window, watching the sky darken as night approached. Time was running out. I couldn’t lose anyone else. Not now. Not when I finally had the chance to fix everything.

the The helicopter battle group would be ready to deploy at a moment’s notice, and I needed to make sure everything was in place.
I moved quickly, issuing orders to the soldiers, ensuring the plan was set. Every second felt like a lifetime, but I couldn’t afford hesitation. This time, nothing was going to stand in my
way.
Doris POV
I watched from the window as the helicopter approached. Its blades roared, growing louder by the second. It landed, and Carlos stepped out first, his face set with determination.
Behind him, soldiers quickly disembarked. They moved fast, securing the area around the helicopter. I felt a brief calm, but I knew it wouldn’t last.
This was just the beginning. The real fight was coming, and I had to be ready.
When the helicopter touched down, the sound of the blades still rang out in the air, and a “heavy sense of finality settled over the courtyard.
Carlos stepped off first. His posture was straight and unwavering. His men followed closely, forming tight rows behind him like a well–oiled machine.
Everyone knew something big was about to happen, but no one dared to voice it.
Carlos stood before the group, his presence commanding attention. He reached for the microphone clipped to his chest.
His eyes scanned the crowd for a moment. Then, his voice rang out, clear and steady. “Cyrus is safe,” he announced. “I’ve made sure of it. He’s under the protection of the Royal
Warriors now.”
His announcement carried across the courtyard, a weighty promise that seemed to ease some of the worry in the air, though it didn’t remove the unease.
I couldn’t help the small breath of relief that escaped me. Finally, after all the worrying, the

uncertainty, it was over. I was no longer in danger, and neither was Cyrus,
Merhold, standing across the yard, stared at Carlos for a long moment, his eyes dark with
realization. He had been tricked.
I could see it in the way his shoulders dropped. The stiff lines of his body easing slightly,
but the anger remained just under the surface.
“You tricked me,” Merhold said, his voice low and almost resigned. “But instead of being angry… I want to know, Doris… Do you hate me that much?”
I took a deep breath, walking toward him slowly.
“Merhold,” I began, my voice soft but steady, “I don’t hate you. I never did. But you have to understand why I’m upset. You brought me here, to this island, without a choice. You didn’t care about what it would do to me, to Cyrus, to anyone. Your actions hurt so many people,
wasted so much time and energy, and for what?”
I paused, my eyes meeting his. “For something that wasn’t even real.”
“Merhold’s face shifted slightly. The anger softened, replaced by a more vulnerable look. “I
didn’t mean for it to be like this,” he muttered. “I just wanted… I just wanted you to be
happy.”
I shook my head, my throat tightening at the unexpected admission. “But you didn’t think
about anyone else’s happiness, did you? Not even mine.”
A long silence stretched between us. He stood there, staring at me, as if trying to read my
soul. But I knew there was no more room for excuses.
“I want to leave, Merhold,” I said, my voice firm now. “You’re not going to stop me, are you?”
