Chapter 9 Failed Marriage 

The Campbell’s villa, the dining room. 

Jaxon kept glancing at Gabriel with a hesitant expression, Gabriel put down his fork and asked, “Something you want to say?” 

Jaxon asked hesitantly, “Dad, can I go and play with Leila this weekend? I want to give her the new toy.” 

Gabriel swallowed the stern refusal back after seeing his expectation. “Let the driver take you there.”

Hazel looked at the Maybach and sneered in her heart. “No wonder Gabriel would agree to send the children. He was rushing to have a date with Gianna.” 

Leila handed both bottles of drinks to Jaxon, not giving any to Joshua. Joshua was bad! But Jaxon shared it with Joshua. 

Joshua turned to Hazel and and 

said, I won’t drink anything you gave me! 

“Joshua, you couldn’t speak to mom like that.” 

Joshua looked at Leila in Hazel’s arms and stubbornly said, “She isn’t my mom Hazel’s face changed. Leila immediately kissed her and said, “Mommy. Love you.” Gianna was very satisfied with what Joshua said. She deliberately threw the drink into the trash 

can. 

She questioned Hazel, Joshua is allergic to orange juice, didn’t you know? 

“How can I trust you to take care of them?” 

Her raised voice attracted Gabriel to get out of the car. 

Leila was scared by Gianna. Hazel patted Leila’s back. Don’t be afraid, Mom is here.” Gabriel frowned. “What’s going on?” 

Gianna had a tearful look and said with fear, “Gabriel, doesn’t she know that Joshua is allergic to orange juice? If I hadn’t found it, Joshua would have drunk it.” 

Gabriel’s scrutinizing gaze fell upon Hazel. 

Married in secret for five years, Hazel thought that even if Gabriel didn’t love her, he still knew a little bit about her personality. 

To her surprise, after hearing Gianna’s words, his first reaction was to doubt her.

Hazel sneered “Gianna, Joshua is not allergic to orange juice. He is just like his dad, not fond anything sour.” 

Hazel turned to Gabriel and said, “What? You don’t understand children at all. You don’t like him being picky with food, so Joshua said he’s allergic to orange juice.” 

Joshua heard his years of lies being exposed and dared not look into Gabriel’s eyes. He quietly hid behind Jaxon 

Gabriel understood everything. 

Hazel continued, “Moreover, it was pumpkin juice.” 

She looked at Gianna mockingly and said, “Are you blind? Don’t slander me 

Gianna watched Gabriel, tears welling up in her eyes 

Gabriel frowned. “Hazel, don’t speak so rudely.” 

“Gianna was only concerned. In the past two years when you were not around, she would come and spend time with the children. As a mother, you should say thank you to her.” 

Hazel was speechless. 

“Are you blind, too?” 

Leila glanced at Hazel and then at Gabriel. She walked over and hugged his leg, pounding him with her chubby little hands. 

“You’re bad!” 

Gabriel lifted her up and looked at her chubby hands. Leila started crying Hazel rushed over to hug her, but Gabriel held Leila first. 

Gabriel stared at Hazel Hazel, let’s talk” 

Hazel wanted to refuse, but she noticed his gaze falling on the two boys 

Hazel didn’t want to leave the three children in the living room, so she took Gabriel to the balcony connected to the living room. 

Hazel said, “Go ahead.” 

Gabriel straightforwardly expressed his intention. 

“Children need a mother. I can let you visit the children anytime, but you cannot spoil 

“You have a deep misunderstanding of Gianna. The two children really like her, and behavior will make them feel uncomfortable.” 

Hazel felt a lump in her throat. Her five–year marriage was a complete failure. “Gabriel, you shouldn’t say this to me. Warn her instead. I disdain to pay any attention to her.” 

Her disdain for Gianna was evident. Gabriel coldly remarked, “Hazel, how did you become this? 

Half a month later, their second conversation failed again. 

Toch refused to stay at Hazel’s house. 

Hazel didn’t stop him and let him leave. Before leaving, Joshua secretly turned back. Hazel wasn’t looking at him. He felt indescribably sad.

Gabriel had not come to pick up the children yet, so Hazel bathed the two children and took them 

y the bedroom. 

Her big bed was connected to a children’s bed. 

Jaxon lay beside Leila, and Hazel told them bedtime stories. 

The story was not finished yet, but the two children had already fallen asleep. Hazel lay by the bedside, with a gentle gaze, wishing to keep them by her side. When Gabriel arrived, it was already 10 o’clock at night. 

She noticed a strong smell of alcohol and rose perfume. It was the brand that Gianna liked the 

most. 

During those five years of their secret marriage, Hazel would often catch this smell of him. 

Gabriel said, “Where is Jaxon?” 

Hazel took two steps back in disgust. “Gabriel, didn’t you say that you wouldn’t drink in front of children?” 

He squinted his eyes and said, “Hazel, mind your own business. It has nothing to do with you.” 

She stepped aside to let him into the house. 

When Gabriel saw Jaxon lying with Leila, he paused. 

“His clothes were newly bought and washed.” 

Hazel explained Jaxon’s pajamas. Just as she was about to wake Jaxon up, Gabriel gently stopped her. 

“Let him sleep, I will come to pick him up tomorrow morning.” 

Gabriel left, his steps slightly unsteady. 

Hazel felt a bit puzzled. She looked down from the window. Gianna stood next to the car and hurriedly went to Gabriel.

changed her clothes. 

Her pure white dress in the morning had now turned into a bright red one. 

What kind of date required changing clothes? 

Hazel looked up at the sparkling night sky and came to her senses. 

She should look forward. 

The starry sky in Seattle was not as beautiful as in Nyack. 

The next day, Leila woke up early. She saw Jaxon by her side and laughed. 

Jaxon also opened his eyes and threw himself into a soft and warm embrace. 

He met Hazel’s eyes, and it took him several seconds to realize that he had slept with Hazel and Leila last night. 

Hazel looked at Jaxon’s puzzled expression and smiled as she ruffled his hair. “If you’re not sleepy, get up and wash up.” 

Jaxon nodded. 

She took Jaxon and Leila to the bathroom..

She prepared children’s toothbrushes for them. After squeezing toothpaste for Jaxon, she brushed Leila’s teeth and washed her face. 

Leila was particularly cooperative. She closed her eyes and felt 

refreshed. 

Seeing the envy in Jaxon’s eyes, Hazel placed Leila on the little deer chair at the door. She took out a new towel to wash his face. 

His eyes twinkled, revealing his undisguised joy.
