Chapter 80
Throughout my way to the living room where Haelor was, I couldn’t stop mentally cursing. How the hell had Jane managed to find out?
When I’d tried to probe for more answers through the mind link, she had simply stopped
replying.
A small breath left my lips as I tried to get all my emotions in check. I slowly made my way
into the room where Haelor was seated on one of the chairs.

His head whipped towards me when I walked in. it was hard to miss how his eyes softened
when they landed on me.
“Are you okay?” He made his way towards me. “How do you feel? Any injuries?”
“Just my arm,” I wiggled my fingers just a little. “But I’ll be fine. Nothing a few medicine won’t help with.”
His gaze lingered on my arm, like he wasn’t entirely convinced about my well–being and whether or not I was actually telling the truth.
“Regardless, I’m going to be staying here so I can keep an eye on you. I want to make sure you’re completely fine before I head back to the base.”
“I appreciate that, but won’t it be getting in your line of duty?” I asked carefully.
He shook his head. “If I say its fine, then it is. I don’t want you worrying about anything! when all you need to focus on is getting all the rest you need.”
I nodded my head, taking in all the words that had left his mouth. The sincere look in his
eyes sent a pool of warmth down my stomach. How was it that he always knew the right words to say? He was a charmer in his own way and managed to do so without even trying hard.
My gaze dropped down to his bare chest, visible through the few open buttons of his shirt.

Even through the shirt he was wearing, it was pretty obvious that he was well–built,
He seemed to notice where my gaze had dropped to, his eyes following in its direction. Was it suddenly hotter? For a moment, it felt like all I could think of was Haelor and what the muscles underneath that shirt could do.
“Mommy.”
I whipped my head back just in time to see Emma run into the room. She had a look of excitement in her eyes as she ran straight for Haclor.
“Emma.” Haelor smiled, opening his arms just as she flung herself into them. He lifted her into his arms, hugging her for a moment.
“You’re not going to hug mommy too?” I pretended to be sad.
Emma immediately pulled away from Haelor, shaking her head vehemently. I’d barely gotten a word in when she launched herself towards me.
A small laugh left my lips as I cuddled her in my arms. It felt good to be this close to my baby. Her milky scent felt calming as seconds passed.
My gaze flicked to Haelor who was watching our interaction carefully. I decided to deliberate on it for a while before a sigh left my lips.
“You can stay for however long you want to, Haelor.”
His smile grew at my words. I placed a couple of kisses on Emma’s cheeks before letting her
run back to Haelor.
He hugged her back again before she suggested that they play with her toys. He gladly let
her lead the way, not without sending me one last glance.
I took that as my chance and immediately went to find my computer. It took a bit of digging through my belongings but I finally found what I’d been looking for.
I made my way to the room where Haelor and Emma were already playing with some toy blocks. I went to work on pulling up all the findings I had made so far.

“What’s the plan moving so far? About the incident at the auction.” I asked Haelor while furiously typing away at my computer.
“All the assassins that had attacked that night have already been apprehended. The masterminds behind the plan have already been accounted for and rest assured they will suffer the penalties for their actions. There should be a period of diplomacy as we clean up this whole thing. In the meantime, the war should be postponed for now.”
