Chapter 11
The sunlight streaming through the window suddenly stung Mina’s eyes.
On the other end of the line, the transport officer from the Crescent Ridge Pack’s logistics division spoke. “Miss Mina, the list of your belongings has been compiled. Please check to ensure nothing has been left behind.”
She hesitated for only a moment.
Then, with a small, indifferent smile, she said, “There’s no need. Throw everything away. I
don’t need any
of it.”
A deep voice interrupted her thoughts. “What don’t you need?”
Alaric had walked in without her noticing, his golden eyes shadowed with something
unreadable.
Mina ended the call without answering. Then, after a brief glance in his direction, she
shook her head. “Just some old clothes.”
Something about her cold indifference unsettled Alaric.
He shifted, something in his chest tightening in a way he couldn’t explain. But instead of addressing it, his words came out sharp.
“For your own good,” he said, crossing his arms. “You need time to reflect instead of constantly causing trouble.”
Mina simply nodded, her expression obedient. “You’re right. I won’t make the same
mistakes again.”
Her compliance should have pleased him. Instead, unease crawled under his skin, sharp
and persistent. For the first time in years, something was slipping from his grasp.

“Alright, we can go now” Rachel’s voice chimed from the doorway.

She stepped inside, slipping her arm around Alaric’s like a devoted mate, her movements
smooth and natural–practiced.
If it had been before, Mina would have torn them apart without hesitation. She would have thrown a fit, clawed her way between them, and demanded Alaric let go.
But today, she simply watched. Her lips curled slightly–not in bitterness, but in something
closer to… peace.
Alaric’s heart stuttered for half a second. He didn’t know why.
“I’ll go down in a moment,” Mina said, turning away from them.
“Mina must be sulking again,” Rachel whispered, covering her mouth with a soft laugh, but her eyes never left Alaric.
She was watching him carefully, gauging every shift in his expression.
It wasn’t until he exhaled, seeming to ease at Mina’s lack of reaction, that Rachel finally pulled him toward the door.
“The Crescent Ridge Pack isn’t far,” she murmured gently. “If you ever want to see her, you can always go. Or bring her back.”
Her voice softened. “But if she refuses to change, she shouldn’t be allowed to return at all.”
Alaric frowned, still unsettled.
She should have pleaded. She should have clung to him, promised she would be better. She should have fought for him, the way she always did.
Instead, she was walking away without hesitation.
Had she finally learned her lesson? Or… had she truly given up?

sharp, startled scream tore through the air.
Alaric turned, his blood running cold as his gaze shot toward the window.
Mina sat on the edge of the third–floor windowsill, her legs dangling limply, swaying like
autumn leaves before a storm.
“Mina!”
In that instant, Alaric forgot how to breathe. He yanked free from Rachel’s grasp and ran.
Mina, what the hell are you doing?!” His voice cracked as he sprinted toward her. “Don’t be
reckless. We can talk about this. Just–just come down.”
But she didn’t answer. Didn’t even hesitate.
With a single, fluid movement, she pushed herself off the ledge.
Alaric’s heart stopped.
His body moved before his mind could catch up. He sprinted, launching himself forward,
arms outstretched.
And for one fleeting, agonizing second, he thought he had her. His hands caught her waist–just barely–slowing her descent enough to stop her from slamming into the ground.
But he wasn’t strong enough to take the full impact.
The force sent them both crashing into the grassy courtyard, Mina landing just inches from
the hard pavement.
Alaric’s arms–braced entirely around her–took the worst of it. Pain exploded through his limbs. A sickening crack echoed in his ears.
The moment they hit the ground, the entire hospital erupted into chaos.
Doctors and nurses rushed outside, stretchers wheeled into place, voices shouting orders
over the noise.

Chapter 11
Rachel ran toward them, her face pale, eyes wide with carefully crafted panic.
Even the healers who usually stayed in their clinics had come outside. Everyone was moving. Everyone–except for Zane.
The so–called ‘renowned healer‘ stood frozen at the entrance, his hands curled into fists, his
face rigid with tension.
No one expected him to act. Because everyone in Silverclaw knew the truth. Zane’s position had never been earned. It had been *bought.* And in moments like these, when true skill
was needed–he could do nothing.
