Abigail chimed in, “Nothing serious happened at last night’s banquet. It was a close call but no harm done. Zoey, let’s just forget this, and Lilah can offer you free styling in the future.”
Zoey raised her brow at Abigail’s sudden change of tone. Previously, Abigail had addressed her as “Ms. Harmon,” but now she was trying to cozy up. Clearly she wanted Zoey to drop the issue as a favor.
However, Lilah had broken Zoey’s cardinal rule. If she had admitted her mistake honestly, Zoey might have forgiven her. But trying to pin the blame on Leanna was unacceptable.

This level of irresponsibility is unacceptable. On behalf of Z&L Design, I’m canceling all collaboration with Lilah Studio. I’ll issue an official statement shortly.”
Lilah clenched her fists. “Even if you’re a designer for Galaxy Studio, what gives you the authority to terminate my partnership with the brand?”
Zoey shrugged. “You don’t need to worry about that. But your studio will face severe consequences for your actions.”

Lilah scoffed. “So what if we stop collaborating? I have other clients.”
Zoey nodded. “We’ll see about that. Also, why did you target me? Was it your own decision or were you doing someone else‘ s bidding?”
“It was an accident,” Lilah said stubbornly.
Abigail’s expression remained calm, betraying no emotion. She was a seasoned actress, after all
Zoey smirked. “Fine. Let’s see if you can keep playing innocent once things escalate.”
Abigail spoke up. “Zoey, Russell’s been very busy lately. It wouldn’t be good to bother him with such a minor issue.”
Zoey caught the implication. “You think I’d need Russell’s influence to handle this? Trust me, I don’t need his help for something so trivial.”
With that, Zoey turned and left the studio.
Lilah wanted to argue further, but Alissa stepped in front of her. “Want to start something? I could crush you with one finger.”
Lilah flinched at Alissa’s icy glare but stubbornly refused to back down. Abigail, however, pulled her aside.
Alissa scoffed and left with Zoey.

After leaving the studio, Zoey came back to the design studio with Alissa and shared her ideas with Leanna.

“Let Alissa leave first. I’m almost there.”

Zoey told Alissa to leave, but Alissa hesitated. “Are you sure Lilah won’t try anything? She looks dangerous.”
“It’s fine. Russell will be here soon.”

Leanna teased, “Listen to you, ‘Russell this, Russell that!“” She mimicked Zoey, batting her eyelashes. “Oh, Russell, you’re so bad!”

Outside the design studio, Zoey spotted a black Maybach parked by the curb. Troy had already opened the back door for her.
Excitedly, she ran toward the car.
