Chapter 43
Chapter 43
At Nathan’s residence, the knocking on the door still went on.
After Nathan told Hilda to open the door, she came downstairs to open it.
After opening the door, she saw a man standing there with package in his hand. Looking at the packaging of the package in his hand, Hilda knew it was food.
She smiled and said. “Sorry for keeping you waiting. I was in the bathroom just now.”
“You don’t have to apologize.” Samuel smiled slyly at her. Mrs. Clemon, your husband asked me to get this for you.”
Hilda took the package and apologize again. “Sorry for my manner’s Mr. Erm… Sir. Please come in.”
Samuel laughed and walked him. “I told you not to apologize. Anyways I’m Samuel Fleming. I bet you have heard
of me.”
As Hilda heard him mention his name, she gasped. He his Mr. Fleming. The young master of the Fleming family. He is part of the big four and Nathan’s friend. But why is he the one bringing me food?
As she didn’t say anything, Samuel turned and looked at her who was staring at him and joked. “Nathan asked me to deliver the food. I wouldn’t take up much of your time as I can see you are really exhausted. I would leave now.” Saying this he signaled Hilda with his eyes by looking at her neck which had hickeys all over.
Hilda didn’t understand at first but after following his gaze, she blushed and lowered her gaze. “Mr. Fleming, erm thank you.” She said as she watched him walk out of the door.
After shutting the door, she called Nathan again. Completely oblivious to the fact that he was in a meeting. Nathan, why did you have to ask Mr. Fleming to send me food? You know I could have gone out by myself. And why didn’t you tell me earlier when I called.”
Nathan who was in the meeting raised his hand and gestured Stanley to take his place before walking out of the conference room. “Why? You don’t like it?”
“No, I like the food but Mr. Fleming is a busy man you know?
“Hah, so you are worried about him? Let’s forget about that Have you had the food?”
“Not yet.”
“Okay. You should hurry and dig in before it gets cold.”
“Sure.” Hilda replied.
After replying, she didn’t know what to say again and neither did Nathan. They were silent for a while before Nathan asked again. “So what’s your next move?”
“Huh? My next move?” Hilda was confused.
“Yes. Your next move. What are you planning to do now that you quit your job at the Stephenson Group?” Nathan asked calmly as he sat in his office and tapped his fingers rhythmically on his desk.
Hilda shook her head and then recalled that Nathan wasn’t front of her so she sighed and said. “Nothing. I plan to rest for a while before applying for another work?”
“Oh, ohk. Have you thought about joining the Clemon Grou 7” Nathan asked.
“Yes I did think about joining your company but I wouldn’t want to use the back door. I want to rely on my own

strength.”
Nathan frowned as he thought. What’s wrong with using the back door? The company is in my control. But he didn’t want to make Hilda feel bad. “Okay. So what are you going to do today?”
Hilda planned on going to the Adams family to ask her dad about her biological family but since Nathan had no idea about her not being the daughter of the Adams family, she didn’t know I to tell him. “Erm, I plan to pass by the Adams family.” She said timidly.
Although Nathan wasn’t standing in front of her, he could tell from her voice that she didn’t want him to know what she has in mind so he also didn’t push further. “Okay. Take care out there. I will see you later.”
“Okay..” With that Hilda hanged up and sighed as she thought about her real family. z
She took the food into the dinning hall. Looking at the dishes in front of her, Hilda didn’t know what to taste first. There was spam fried rice, BBQ chicken salad, Mac and cheese and sunny side up eggs
She drooled at the sight of the food. Without wasting no time, she started digging in.
She chewed happily on the food as it tasted great. She ate almost everything as she was really starving. After about an hour, she was done so she decided to head for the Adams residence.
Hilda arrived at the Adams residence a few minutes earlier than the usual time because of the speed of the sports car and since it wasn’t a rush hour there wasn’t any traffic.
She raised her head and looked up at the compound where she grew up in. She took a deep breath and rang the bell.
The door was quickly opened and when she was about to walk in, she was splashed by a basin of cold water, which was not only cold but exuded an unpleasant smell. Hilda was stunned.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t see you.” Mrs. Adams covered her mouth and apologized hypocritically. She then leaned closer to Hilda and whispered in a voice only the two of them could hear. “However, you deserve it. You are really disgusting.”
After that she walked back into the house with an arrogant smile.
Hilda clenched her fist and told herself to calm down. She wasn’t here to cause trouble but to find out about where her biological parents were and who they are.
Holding back her anger, Hilda took out an handkerchief from her bag and wipe away the water droplets on her head and face and then walked into the house. 11
When she entered, she saw her dad sitting in the living room with a newspaper in his hand. When he saw how drenched she was like a mouse drowned in water, he looked at her with a bored expression. “Hilda, could you have been a little decent? Look, the floor has been stained by you.”
”
She was wet all over and the weather was a little cold. She felt so cold that she almost shivered. But hearing her dad say this, she felt colder.
He was just in the living room and witnessed what had just happened but he turned to rather rebuke her. Was this the man she had called dad for her lifetime? The man she loved so dearly?
Hilda just smiled reluctantly and sat opposite Mr. Adams not caring about the dirt on her body or ruining the luxurious sofa.
Since he values his things more than her, she might as well stain it since he loved it more dearly. Otherwise, how could she express her gratitude for Mrs. Adams hospitality of welcoming her with a basin of cold and dirty water? “Since you are able to notice the stained floor, you should have been able to tell your wife’s blindness. there is something wrong with her eyes. Otherwise, how could she feign ignorance of me standing at the door? The earlier, the better.”
Mrs. Adams smile froze. She wasn’t expecting Hilda to be this shameless. Slie drenched her with the cold dirty water because of what she and her friend Naima did to Carmen at the Fashion shop the last time but this was not even her revenge.
“Lewis, I really didn’t see her standing behind the door. If she would want, let me get her a new set of clean clothes from Carmen’s ward robe.” Mrs. Adams said pitifully like she had been misunderstood.
Hilda sneered and refused without hesitation. “Stop pretending to be kind. You would never treat me kindly.” Who could know if Mrs. Adams would hide a needle in the dress. She was certain Mrs. Adams wouldn’t mind doing such a dirty deed.
