Marcus and Valerie were driving together. After the events of the afternoon, Valerie had wanted to take a drive to clear her head. She didn’t want to go home upset and needed to calm down first. Her husband decided to take her to a scenic overlook, and they stayed there until night fell. That evening, Valerie found herself doing something she never thought she’d do. Overcome by a surge of jealousy, she felt an uncontrollable urge to claim her husband right then and there. She couldn’t bear the thought of other women looking at him with desire.
Despite her age, Valerie still felt shy expressing such desires, especially in a place like this. But what started as an innocent kiss quickly led her to touch her husband in ways that made her intentions clear. Marcus, not one to miss such signals, began undressing her and then himself. He understood where her sudden boldness came from, but he didn’t mind at all. Fortunately, the spot they’d chosen was completely deserted.
After a long session of kisses, caresses, and more, the couple found themselves back in the car. Valerie’s cheeks were flushed, though she wasn’t sure if it was from their intimacy, the heat inside the car, or the embarrassment of what they’d just done in such a place. Marcus gently stroked her bare skin and played with her hair, but she noticed that his mind seemed to wander at times. That irritated her–she wanted to know what he was thinking. As if reading her mind, Marcus looked at her and, like so many times before, broke the silence.
“My love, there’s something I need to tell you.”
“What is valerie asked, pulling away slightly from his embrace.
“Come closer. Don’t pull away from me. It’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you since we got back to Valentia, but I haven’t known how to,” Marcus said cautiously.
“What is it? Tell me. Is there a problem with us coming back here? Are we in danger?” Valerie blurted out, questions spilling over.
Marcus saw the worry on her face and smiled faintly.

“I don’t know if it’s good or bad. All I know is that it concerns you, me, and maybe a few others…” Marcus said, choosing his words carefully.
“Marcus, just tell me already! You’re making me nervous.”
“Valerie, my love…. Before we came back to Valentia, I asked Frederick to investigate the Palmer and Levett families. I wanted to know every detail about them. You know Frederick–he always seems to read my mind. He prepared a very detailed report on their lives, their actions, everything, I wanted to go through it before showing you, but there’s so much information. I’ve only gone through one folder, and what’s in it… well, it’s delicate. I’ve been thinking for days now that you should see it too. You might know things I don’t, and together we could fill in the blanks.”
“Marcus, why didn’t you tell me this before?”
“Valerie, my love, I wasn’t sure about the contents of the briefcase. The report has 12 folders. I’ve only read the first one, but I think you should see it too. I haven’t had time to go through the rest, but I want us to do it together. No one else can know about this, understand?”
“Marcus… is this report really that important?”
“I don’t know! Maybe you can help me make sense of some of it.”
“Then show me, and I’ll see if I can add anything. But just so you know, back then I didn’t go out much, so I’m not sure how helpful I’ll be.”
“All right. Let’s head home, and once the kids are asleep, came with me to the study. I’ll show you what I’ve got,” Marcus said, slipping on those stylish glasses he wore every day.

“I think Serenity and John are probably already asleep. Don’t you think it’s late enough for that?”
“You’re absolutely right! Hey… should we head home, or do you want to keep taking advantage of me?” Marcus whispered playfully in her ear.
“Marcus! I didn’t do anything you didn’t want to do! If anything, you were the one seducing me,” Valerie replied, blushing
“Didn’t seem that way a little while ago! But fine, let’s say we seduced each other. Deal?”
“Marcus!”
“Come on, let’s head home before the police show up and find us like this!” Marcus teased.
And with that, they straightened themselves up and drove off, laughter filling the car as they made their way back home.
